2016 will be the year I overcome scoliosis. Strong and Fearless 2k16.
The 4th Schroth Best Practice A-level course held in South Korea by the amazing South Korean Schroth Master Sang Gil Lee. About twice a year K-Schroth holds a course that you can take to become a certified A-level Schroth instructor. Physical therapists, fitness trainers, yoga and Pilates instructors, and even spine surgeons come to get certified. It is a three day course where they learn about scoliosis breathing patter, curve classification, muscles that are affected by scoliosis the most called Target muscles, how to approach target muscles, activities of daily living ADL, which is how a scoliotic should lie, sit, stand, and walk according to the curvature type and much more. Once they are familiarized with these basics, they go into the Schroth methods breathing techinque, called Right Angle Breathing( RAB) also known as rotational breathing (which is the Schroth methods most basic and most important exercise), and the main exercise poses such as Muscle cylinder, Fifty times, Door hands out, Frog and pond, Hip knot, and Hip lift. (I will post more and explain all of what just said in more detail so stay tuned!) I volunteer myself every course because I strongly feel that the people that come to learn about scoliosis should actually be able to see a scoliotic back in real life. It’s pretty funny to watch the confusion on their faces once they try to practice what they have learned on me. It’s not easy teaching Schroth because its such a specific exercise and there are so many things that must be paid attention to. If Schroth is incorrectly taught it can make things even worse. I am glad that I am able to help these people because I know that if they are educated properly it will benefit others with scoliosis in the future. This had been a very simple and short summary so stay tuned and I will keep posting in detail what all this means!
