HDMmonth week 1/favorite (minor) character: Ama and Kulang from TAS
“I gave you love but it wasn't enough.”
Kulang.

Ahai!
Kulang, sister of Sayan, investigating the Desert.

EXPERIENCE IN PHOTOS:
I will be writing my experience in short as captions to the photographs.
↑ 22.11.2025, Saturday - Our trek started at 04:35 from Ambewadi & we had breakfast near the cave at the base of Alang. We parked our bags in this cave & proceeded towards Madan, which you are seeing in the front. We carried a smaller rucksack with essentials like water, hat and some tidbits for food. ↑
The plan was to climb Madan & return to the cave at base of Alang, collect our bags and have lunch and then proceed with the climbing of Alang.
↑ Alang seen as a crescent, while climbing Madan ↑
↑ Kulang seen from Madan top ↑
↑ Madan top with Kulang on the right. ↑
↑ Kalsubai, the highest peak of Maharashtra is seen on the left, from all of the AMK. ↑
↑ After climbing Madan, we backtracked to Alang to collect our rucksacks and have lunch at the cave near the base of Alang. The rope is for climbing the rock patch at Alang. ↓
↑ We waited for almost 3 hours in this cave, for our turn to climb Alang. ↑
↑ First glimpse of our campsite on the Alang plateau. There were lots of water cisterns, and our group leader Dattatrey (aka Jocky Sir of PointBreak Adventures) informed us which were potable and which could be used for washing purpose. We took care not to litter or pollute the water sources anywhere. You can see 2 caves aligned horizontally on the left side of the mountain wall & these are used by trekkers by pitching tents inside them for night stay. ↓
↑ Crystal clear water had guppy fishes swimming in it & a determined trekker who completed AMK successfully with all of us.↑
↑ That gap in the shadow is due to the needle's eye in Madan. The shape of the shadow resembled India's shape, at least to my mind. ↑
↑ We are seeing our campsite on Alang and behind it Madan and still beyond it is Kulang. ↑
↑ Sunset from Alang ↓
↑ 23.11.2025, Sunday: Sunrise from Alang ↓
↑ Water cisterns on Alang & Kulang in the backdrop. ↑
↓ We rappelled down from Alang & proceeded towards Kulang. We walked with full baggage. It was the longest cliff walk ever! Kulang always seemed far away, though its massif was visible to us. ↓
↑ Chotta Kulang in the front with THE Kulang behind it. ↓
The video shared below, will actually showcase my journey & don't miss it.
↑ Kulang top, with cisterns whose cool water quenched our parched throats. We kept our bags at the base of Kulang and climbed the steep slope. It was tiring. A few gave up too, at this point. ↑
↑ The beautiful folds of Sahyadri mountains seen from Kulang top showcase Chotta Kulang and then Madan in between, followed by Alang behind it. On the left is Kalsubai peak, looking like a tiny bump in the mountains. ↓
↑ Does this door frame resemble a wise bird that hoots in the dark?↑
↑ We climbed down the steep slopes of Kulang and proceeded towards Ambewadi, the base village. The downhill slope is steep and a bit slippery in some patches. We are seeing Madan with the needle's eye in its walls here. ↓
↑ Needle's eye of Madan ↑
↑ We crossed the beautiful bamboo forest and noticed a tree with orange leaves. I noticed only 3 such trees in the entire trek. Two were while climbing Madan initially & this last one while descending Kulang. ↓
