make me choose (lost edition) ♡ @elizabethtudors asked: juliet or kate? since when did shooting kids and blowing up hydrogen bombs become okay? it doesn’t matter who we were; it only matters who we are.
important things:
how often kate makes a point to say “thank you” to juliet because she notices early on that no one ever does. people take her for granted and even before kate likes her, she doesn’t like that. she is willing to sacrifice some of her carefully cultivated Toughness to make sure that juliet knows she is there, that she SEES her. how kate is literally the only reason that juliet doesn’t die alone; how she is the only one who doesn’t give up hope that she is still alive.
how after juliet gets a feel for what kate is like, after she figures out what makes her tick, she makes a point to be softer. she, too, makes a point to sacrifice some of what she’s built to survive. how when juliet outs sun to jin she’s just like “sorry, i did what i had to do” but when she yells at kate it’s “i’m so sorry i yelled at you”. how juliet is the only one who not only never uses kate’s past / trauma against her (and she knows more than anybody!), but also actively empathizes with her and tries to make amends when she does something she knows is triggering.
how they never fight over a dude. ever. i say this a lot when i talk about them because it is So Rare and i so expected it to be different but. i can’t say it enough. they are better than that. these are two women who have, in their own ways, dedicated their lives to helping other women and they are not here for that. how they will support each other no matter what or who is between them.

It was love that kept this girl standing. Sometimes, the kids setting the fires are the ones least likely to want to watch them burn. See, some of us are hot coals, lit up from the inside, and some of us love so hard we don’t remember how to make it stop.

there’s some things, though, i know for certain. always throw spilled salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for luck... and fall in love whenever you can.
