Come To Me | Kunten | Rated M | 712 words | Light Angst, Established Relationship, Insecurity | From Twitter Request
This was it. Kun was finally fed up with him. Ten had always felt that they were on the verge of breaking up, even when they first got together. They bickered too much and had different tastes in almost everything. They didn’t make sense. Everyone could see it.
Kun is dating Ten?
People used to say that with surprise, like they couldn’t believe the two of them wanted to be together. It made Ten feel defiant. He would show them all by having Kun so whipped that he couldn’t see straight.
Ten didn’t want him to be straight or bi or whatever might take him away. He knew it wasn’t right, but he couldn’t help worrying that this was just a fluke. Kun hadn’t been with any other guys, perhaps he was just experimenting.
But that wasn’t the issue. The sex was amazing. He just didn’t want to be with Ten.
Ten couldn’t exactly blame him. He was needy, emotional, demanding. He’d been hurt by every guy who’d come before, so why would Kun be any different?
They’d fought over something stupid, Ten couldn’t even remember how it began. Kun had stormed out of the apartment. He didn’t call and he didn’t text. When he returned, hours later, he didn’t seek Ten out and make it all better. Instead, he locked himself in his room.
Like Ten was nothing.
From their smallest spats to their biggest blowouts, Kun always came to Ten first. He was the peacemaker, calming Ten’s choppy sea, renewing Ten’s faith that love could overcome anything. Even if Kun was too practical to agree to such a dramatic declaration.
But Kun was done. He didn’t want to try anymore. That’s what had been running through Ten’s mind all day.
Ten felt weary as he dragged himself out of bed. He padded into the hall and over to the next door. He hesitated. Then he knocked.
“Come in.”
Kun’s voice sounded calm. He obviously hadn’t been crying at all. Did he even care?
“Kun,” Ten sniffed.
Kun swivelled around in his desk chair. “Ten.”
“Are you…” Ten chewed his lip. “Are you sick of me?”
“No.”
Ten breathed a sigh of relief, which turned into a groan of confusion. “Then why have you been ignoring me?”
“Because I wanted you to come to me for a change.”
“What?”
“Whenever we fight, I always apologise. Even if I wasn’t in the wrong. I always try to settle things because I love you and I want to make you happy. But sometimes it feels one-sided, like I’m the only one trying.”
“No!” Ten insisted. “It’s not one-sided. I love you too and I don’t want to fight over stupid things or anything at all.”
“Then why is this the first time you’ve ever come to me first?”
“I…” Ten paused. “I don’t know.”
“I have an idea,” Kun replied. “It’s because you take me for granted.”
“That’s not true! I…I…”
It wasn’t true. As different as they were in their ideas and how they approached things, he respected and admired Kun. He truly loved Kun. But he was scared that one day Kun wouldn’t love him anymore.
Other guys had said that they loved him. But they were lying. If they loved him, then they wouldn’t have cheated on him.
“I just need reassurance,” Ten said, at last. “You know how guys have treated me in the past.”
“I’m not those guys!”
“Yeah, that’s what they all said.”
Kun sighed. “Did it ever occur to you that I might need some reassurance too?”
Ten blinked. It hadn’t. He’d been so focused on making sure Kun belonged to him. He forgot to consider how Kun might feel.
“I’m sorry,” Ten said. “I never meant to make you feel like this is one-sided or that I take you for granted or that you’re like anybody else.” He stepped closer, then closer again, until he was close enough to settle on Kun’s lap. “Because none of that is true. And I’ll give you all the reassurance you need.” He circled his arms around Kun’s neck. “You don’t even have to ask.”
“I don’t, huh?” Kun smiled. “Can we turn this into Kun appreciation day?
Ten kissed him. “I’m gonna make everyday Kun appreciation day.”
