…Well, actually, it makes sense for another magical teen to show up at a time like this. He refocuses on a nearby catpole that’s gotten itself lodged in a drain.

“…Careful. These get messy when they break.”

So she can talk. Not that she’s unattractive enough for him to open with that.

A round, rubbery creature the size of a basketball bounces around a corner and absolutely plows into Damian, followed shortly by… Many others of various sizes, just bouncing wildly in all directions, making noises that would be right at home in a Yoshi game as they go.

Above their din, a girl’s voice can be heard:

“GOD DAMMIIIIIIIIT!!!”

If looked for long enough, Kunio can eventually be found sitting listlessly on a bench in the yard. He’s got a book open, but he’s been reading the same paragraph over and over again for the past ten minutes.
