Leopika is my favorite ship because without having to stretch characterization or make aus, you can make them toxic or wholesome, hurt/no comfort or fluffy found family. Like, I can see them going down so many routes.
And even though Kurapika can be cold, he always, always believes he is doing what is right for his loved ones (Leorio included). That’s why it works as a “toxic romance.” Both of them only want the best for the other, even when they hurt each other. Which is why it’s so easy to imagine them having a happy ending and a healthy relationship despite the angst.
It’s so insanely compelling to me.
