When Yami Sennen moved to Domino to start his life as a monster tamer, the last place he would have expected to end up was caring for 5 little Kuribohs. As they grow and change, so do the challenges and rewards from raising them. He navigates caring for the kuribohs, making new relationships, and learning a little about himself along the way too.
This is ENTIRELY based on kuriboh-mama-yami 's amazing Tumblr. They were kind enough to let me throw myself head first into the adorable chasm of their idea, and I plan to keep writing as long as they (and my brain) allow. A new snippet!
By the end of the week, Kisara had fully settled in the stall at Katsuya’s ranch- despite all of Seto’s attempts to sway her towards home. He should have known better. Once a dragon made up their mind, that was the end of it. Splitting his time between home and the ranch was wearing his nerves thin. Carina and Adena were confused, Kisara was showing signs of preparing to lay her eggs, and he had meetings scheduled for the other girls. Katsuya swore that he would stay home while Seto was busy, but the unknown was twisting him into knots.
Today was the only meeting he couldn’t push back. The Schroeder family had traveled far, and he refused to burn a potential match by trying to move it. Depending on how today went, they would either be settling in Japan or returning to Germany.
“Have you had breakfast?” Mokuba’s voice cut into his thoughts.
“What?” Seto asked, thrown off by Mokuba’s intrusion. His brother narrowed his deep brown eyes, watching Seto like a hawk.
“You’ve been pacing for like an hour.” Mokuba pointed out. Then he grabbed Seto’s elbow and tugged him over to sit down. “Eat something. The last thing you need to do is pass out.”
“I am not going to pass out.” Seto replied, accepting the plate his brother shoved towards him. Mokuba’s unamused face was all the answer he needed.
“You slept like 4 hours, and you’ve been up and around all morning with only coffee.” Mokuba said. “I am an expert in ‘heading for a crash and burn’, and you are barreling towards it.” He was right- he always was. Seto silently ate his breakfast, turning over the day's schedule in his brain again. The Schroeder’s would arrive within the hour, then Carina would meet Ludwig. If that didn’t go well, Adena would meet him in another paddock an hour later.
“Thank you.” Seto said, feeling worlds better as food settled into his body. Mokuba smiled- with just one dimple, as always. Old faded pictures of their mother revealed she had the same.
“What are brothers for?” Mokuba said, getting up.

“Kuriii?” Honey trilled, already floating near the door. She was holding Yami’s briefcase in her paws as they packed up. Yami did a headcount- all five were present. Baby was zooming around the open space in the breakroom, clutching a paperweight he had grabbed from Vivian’s desk.
“Baby, give that to Mama.” Yami sighed, gently taking it from him. “We are going home soon, okay?”
“Kuriii! Ri ko!” Baby replied, handing over the paperweight with no argument. He soared over to join his siblings near the door. The office was starting to empty out, and Yugi was almost there.
“Thank you for indulging me.” Vivian said, taking the paperweight back over to her desk. “My curiosity aside, it does seem to have done wonders for morale around here. A little visit from time to time is a good idea. Even Haga’s little beetle made some friends.”
“It’s good for them to see new things.” Yami said, watching as Buddy sat in an empty chair so his siblings could spin him as fast as possible. A chime sounded from his pocket- Yugi was coming up to meet Vivian and help him wrangle the older ones into the elevator. “Yugi will be up any minute.”
“I am looking forward to meeting him.” Vivian said, heading towards the door with Yami. “Anyone who can juggle this madness must be as interesting as you.” When the babies spotted him approaching the door, they abandoned their brother in the office chair. Yami set one hand on the chair to stop it. Buddy tried to fly up, but was too dizzy and careened off in a random direction until Yami caught him and held him close.
“Kuuuuri….” Buddy whined, squeezing his eyes shut. “No bi…”
“Too fast?” Yami asked, kissing him between the eyes.
