Happy Halloween by Sascha and Rudgar!
Reaper Week Day 6: Sascha hc
Today’s the human life headcanon! Obviously, I’d write my personal headcanon about Sascha, my favorite Shinigami’s human life. Warning: long rambling ahead.
Sascha was born and lived in the most southern part of Germany. He was a sickly, but cheerful and intelligent young boy with insatiable curiosity. He developed some morbid interests and thought pattern at a very young age, and in return his parents and people found him morbid and dangerous. Despite his adorable and friendly demeanor, Sascha was a complete outcast and didn’t have a single friend. He never got along with children of his age and was often bullied by his peers. While confused, Sascha usually didn’t mind as he enjoys being himself and despite his eccentric way of thinking, he never meant any harm. With his parents often being too busy and no one looking out for him, Sascha is used to take care of himself for most part.
As a young teenager, he received a camera and a diary as a gift, and took interest in photography. He loved documenting things and taking beautiful landscapes of his hometown. He wished to expand his knowledge and thought moving out from his place is the best option. He was also thinking of becoming a war journalist when he grew up. Sadly his situation didn’t allow him to. While his weak but loving mother was supportive of the idea, his abusive alcoholic father wasn’t too receptive and Sascha received a beating instead. At that moment, he gave up on his dream and his thoughts took an even more morbid turn.
Combined with his increasingly severe bullying, Sascha started to think of his own death (albeit not out of depression). He feared that they will eventually kill him. As he grew bored and tired with his small world, Sascha eventually came to a conclusion that he would never get anywhere in his current life and decided to put an end to it.
Reaper Week Day 3: Death scythe
Out of all Shinigami introduced, Sascha’s death scythe remains a mystery. So I think it’s worth discussing.
As a huge Sascha fan, I always want to see how his death scythe looks like. According to this post by @vvlin91, it’s not his camera! What could it be then? Personally, I imagine it to be something easy to carry, like scissors or florist knife. Thoughts?
Some reaper Death Scythe headcanons:
For reaper week! @kuroshitsuji-events.
These are all my headcanons, nothing more.
I’ve seen a post talking about why Grell chose a chainsaw, but here’s my two cents. Grell chose a chainsaw, because... it fits. It’s loud, it’s flashy, and it stands out. They even have the same sharp pointy teeth. And because I feel like an old-timey chainsaw would be incredibly heavy, Grell Sutcliff is buff as hell. This is the third or fourth draft of the chainsaw--it went through a couple of remakes before Grell finally settled on something.
Undertaker, when he was still in service, was the origin of the Grim Reaper image we have today--long cloak, huge scythe, etc. (I personally think he’s very, very old.) That’s either his skeleton on his scythe, or a replica. (That’s also his justification for taking it with him when he retired. “Well it’s mine, I’m taking it.”)
Ronald chose his scythe for a couple of reasons. Obviously the coolness factor--no one else has one like that, and it makes him stand out. It also has a wide range, allowing him to take out a large number of souls at once... which means less overtime for bigger jobs. (It also allows him to take care of a large number of Records at once on smaller jobs which, again, means less chance of overtime.)
William’s scythe, on the other hand, is excellent for precision work.... but not much else (which suits William just fine--he’s nothing if not precise). He had a more standard scythe during training, of course, but after the incident in the OVA, he preferred one that allowed him to interact with the Records from a distance. (The fewer times he has to have Grell save his ass, the happier he’ll be.)
Eric’s scythe is simply a tool he’s familiar with. In life, he was a carpenter, and in the strange new environment of the afterlife, his scythe is actually comforting to him. Most shinigami go through a few different scythes before finding one that fits them, but not Eric--it was like an extension of his arm from day one.
Alan, meanwhile, doesn’t feel any special attachment to his scythe. It’s small enough that he can use it easily, which is important. (Even before he got sick, Alan Humphries was... not a strong man. :’( ) It took him a while to get good with it; it’s hard to wield a tool that’s as almost as tall as you are.
Othello hasn’t customized his because, in being in forensics, he doesn’t feel like it’s necessary. He’s also generally not very skilled with it. However, there’s another reason that he keeps to himself. It’s very common for shinigami to customize their scythes--to reflect their personality, their fighting style, etc.--and at times, reapers can get very creative with them (like Ronald and Grell). Othello sees himself as many things, but creative is not one of those things. Better to leave it unmodified and chalk it up to “being in forensics” than to modify it into something unintentionally ridiculous and be laughed at.
Miscellaneous bonus headcanon: It’s considered incredibly rude to touch another reaper’s scythe.
Prompt: That Maid, Genius Detective
@kuroshitsuji-events
Mey-Rin ogles Sebastian, follows him around, listens in on his conversations to the best of her ability . . . But what if she hasn’t actually had a crush on him in years?
Write a fic where, under the cover of “infatuation,” Mey-Rin observes Sebastian closely, makes deductions, and figures out at least some of his darker secrets.
Prompt: Ciel’s Angels
@kuroshitsuji-events
In the dead of night on some desert island, Sebastian eats Ciel’s soul. Hearts break at home in England, as Soma, Bard, Agni, and so many others wait for their little lord to come home . . .
But Lizzie’s done waiting. She intends to unravel the mystery of Ciel’s disappearance, and she swears vengeance upon those who took him from her again. She joins forces with Mey-Rin and Sieglinde, and the three women, all smart, capable, and lethal, set out into the night.
Bonus points if they ally with Frances, Nina, Grell and/or Ran Mao along the way.
