Fantastic formal outfit (OP wore it for New Year), pairing this breathtaking black furisode depicting oshidori (mandarin ducks) and hato (doves) under yukimochi-ume (snow covered plum branches) + a matching oshidori obi tied in fukura suzume (”puffed sparrow”) knot.
Like doves in the West, oshidori ducks are a symbol of eternal love and fidelity. Because of this, I think this furisode is probably technically a kakeshita (bridal furisode worn under uchikake coat). But, bridal or not, it is far too amazing to be left in a drawer!
