Kurogao is finally revealed! I like his design: it's square and aquiline, very much the look of a no-nonsense older man who knows his stuff. The beaky nose and the black-sclera eyes are reminiscent of a hawk or bird of prey, which is very fitting for his character type: he waits, he discerns, and at the perfect moment, he strikes.

I tried to research what would cause black sclera, but I couldn't find anything. It's just not a color that occurs naturally in humans. Which makes you wonder what exactly happened to Kurogao to make his eyes look like that.

This is actually kind of insane. Kurogao is broadcasting this LIVE to anybody who's in the plaza. All of these civilians are seeing “Kuroyuri” hold another politician hostage and confess to murdering several people. This is a famous politician! This is like if Richard Nixon in the middle of his resignation speech suddenly ripped off a wig and claimed he was an assassin on a quest for revenge. And all of these people (many of whom may have attended Kuroyuri's campaigning sessions!) are watching it happen. Social media is about to EXPLODE.

Kurogao's philosophy is painfully simple: you can't change the horrible thing that's happened to you, so there's no point in pretending that anything after that moment can be changed. No matter what you do, you will never be the same person that you were before. So why even bother trying to make a better life?

Ever since Yuri died, Kurogao has devoted himself entirely to revenge. He’s decided that there’s nothing left in his life after this last act of revenge, to the point of revealing his identity to the general public because he doesn’t care about consequences anymore. He’s given up! And now he’s trying to drag Taiyo down to his level.

But Taiyo has already been through that pain. He was the same way after his family died. He didn't have anyone left or anything to live for—his whole life was completely gutted by their deaths. But Mutsumi reached out to him and stayed with him throughout the dark period. Even when Taiyo was actively pushing her away, she didn't leave him. And that’s ultimately what saved Taiyo from withering away in his grief.

Taiyo can empathize with Kurogao because he’s already braved through this issue. Unlike Kurogao, he had people who helped him realize that there IS life after a loss.

Kurogao may not have anything left to live for, but Taiyo sure as hell does. And he’s not going to let Kurogao drag him into the pits of suffering when Mutsumi is waiting for him to come home.

Oooooooh Kuroyuri is finally showing his hand. He’s clearly collected information on the Yozakura family, specifically Taiyo. It wouldn’t be hard for him to find info on Taiyo considering how prolific Taiyo has been recently—even if he’s only been part of the spy world for a short time, there’s still plenty of info about him in the spy magazines.

But that's why it's so jarring when Kuroyuri reveals details about Taiyo's family, knowledge that he couldn't have gotten from any newspaper or tabloid. This is more than any two-bit politician could dig up, and Taiyo knows it.

(Side note: have they mentioned before that Yae is an “ancestral” electric gun? It can’t be super ancestral considering it’s...you know, a gun. But if that’s true, that means we might meet someone who used Yae before Taiyo, which would be pretty cool!)

I've been wondering this for a while now, but how is the government handling the sudden loss of so many government officials? Kurogao is taking out a large group of politicians by either removing them from their positions or outright killing them. And remember, the Onigiri Gumi mafia group literally just got a bunch of corrupt politicians arrested less than two months prior. How is the government making up for the sudden deficiency? There must be a huge scramble to fill the positions and elect more government officials to fill the void. Is the Japanese political sphere a huge mess right now?
