          “Well, y’see it’s not entirely my fault that town burned down. It had it comin’, makin’       everything out of wood. Once the bakery went up in smoke I figured, why not everythin’      else? We could have a bonfire!”

        A wide grin is offered at his pathetic excuse for decimating         yet another small town. As much fun as he’d had dancing         in the flames, he wasn’t sure it was worth it now that Lucy         was giving him the look.

               “Err--it didn’t even take all our reward for the                repairs!” and he casually offers her a menial                 handful of Jewels.

  Stranger danger alert! Pink haired man saying weird things? Perhaps he was looking for someone else? Or was she wanted for something? All she wanted was to find another magic shop since that last one conned her out of 20,000 jewel but now she had a new key so she wins. Score one for Lucy! Now to deal with the crazed stranger and find a hotel to stay at for the night.

                    “ E-Excuse me but do I know you? ”

          Oh.. Oh she wasn’t who he’d thought she was. Whoops. Thaaaaat’s embarrassing.      Play it off, Natsu. Just play it off. Pretend you know what you’re doing.

        “Err-... Sorry I thought you were a... plant...”         Smooth, Natsu. REALLY smooth. A plant!?

One moment, everything is alright. The enemy is down on the ground, beaten, where they belong. Lucy is fine, standing a ways off, waiting for him. And then everything goes to shit. It all starts with a curious pain in his gut. It takes him a moment to even identify it as pain, it’s so sudden. And then it’s so excruciating he can’t hope to even take a step forward. The enemy, a lone mage from a supposedly weak dark guild, gives a bitter sort of cackle before disappearing in a jet of poisonous green smoke.   He can feel an odd, sticky liquid dripping from his mouth, but it’s nothing compared to the the horrible, splashing sound echoing in his ears.   What is that? Where is that sound coming from? and then it clicks. He glances down at his abdomen, at the horrible, twisted mess that is his abdomen, and groans. The pain isn’t even that noticeable, not compared to the shock coursing through his veins. And then he crumples to the ground in a heap, breath rattling through blood-stained lips. 

  Was he dying? He felt way too calm to be dying.  And then she was there, screaming his name in a broken voice he’d come to despise. And it was him who’d upset her this time. How lame.

He’d upset her. He wasn’t sure what it was he’d said or done, given he’d been acting normally, but she wasn’t at all happy and it physically hurt him to see her that way.    “ Can.. Do you wanna talk about it? “
