Sparrow, Wren, and Finch Chapter 1
One year later
Kurt was a bundle of nerves. He was trying his best to ignore the butterflies warring in his stomach as he finished up his lesson for his sophomores. He was thankful when the bell sounded ending the period, not that lunch would bring him any reprieve. He gathered his things and as he left his classroom was grateful to see Elliot approaching him.
“How did it go?” Kurt asked his friend.
Elliot gave him an easy smile. “I think it went well, at least as far as interviews go. I think Hina liked me in any case.”
“I have no doubt he loved you.” Kurt assured him. “I’m still surprised you wanted to apply for the position.”
When Elliot had first told him he was applying to replace the Class A teacher for the current seniors, Kurt was taken back. He had always assumed that even without Blaine, Elliot and Sam would move forward with their plans to open their own agency.
“Sam going to work for the Hero Department made me rethink a lot of things,” Elliot told him as they walked down the hall. “I think I like the stability of teaching and it’s not like I am giving up being a hero altogether.”
“I hope you get it. I think you will really like it here. And it will be nice being neighbors.” He laughed as he dug his keys out of his bag.
“It will be nice having a place to myself. Of course it feels that way now with Sam gone all the time.”
Since going to work for the Department, Sam had spent a lot of time undercover. Most of the time he was completely unreachable which worried all of them.
Kurt handed Elliot his keys, “Thanks for picking up Elster on such short notice. I have a few things I still need to get before we leave tomorrow. I was planning on picking them up during lunch but now I have to go and meet the applicant for the new costume tech instead. And Blaine has a meeting after class.”
“I told you before, I love watching Elster so don’t worry about it.” Elliot soothed. “Besides that just means we get to start our special El weekend a little earlier.”
“Hey now. You can’t get rid of me and Blaine so easily. We will still be home tonight. And besides it isn’t the whole weekend, we should be home Sunday afternoon.” Kurt laughed playfully pushing his friend.
Elliot swatted Kurt’s hand away with a smile, “Get out of here, or you will be late for your meeting. You don’t want this new hire to think you are always late, do you?”
