i noticed when i reread the achilleid that achilles is compared to pentheus and the only thing i could think was that achilles got off lightly in comparison
yeah
dionysos, the loud-roarer
A mask with movable eyes, made by the Tlingit, Northwest Coast peoples in Vancouver Island during the mid-19th century
Medicine mask made of wood, canvas, strings. Red ears, eye-lids, nostils and lips. Blue nose, forehead and cheeks. Large row of small white teeth top and bottom. Lower lip made of canvas and able to open and close operated with strings. Eyes also moveable - roll up and down, showing awake and sleeping, also operated with strings.

pentheus sketch for my friend! this is just something very quick, so i didn’t use any references this time. my friend found pentheus’ character very moving, but i think he’s vaguely insufferable,,,,,
'alone you'll come to your understanding'...
danse macabre
agave and pentheus, puppeteered by dionysos. in the reference i used, the female figure became pentheus and the male figure became agave, which i'm sure is symbolic of something. they're both literally chained to the act by dionysos' vines of ivy, which you can see entwining their legs
achilles! i think i need to go back to using references ,,,
