Ryujis knee and leg was shattered by kamoshida and it had to be amputated. He was ridiculed by his former trackmates but Ann took some pity on him. When Ren came along they both got along soundly.

He struggled in kamoshidas palace but the other thieves helped him. After they came up with a plan, so Ryuji could still fight alongside them. More breaks, specially made weapons etc. They tried to make sure he didnt feel different.
