I will probably lose followers for this but it needs to be said.
I will no longer be writing reader inserts. All stories from now on will star OCs from all walks of life and different backgrounds.
Why?
I find it much easier to write stories with characters who have specific appearances and unique backgrounds and it gives me, the writer, more control over the characters and how they behave.
This is something that has been in the works for a while now. Every time I start a new story idea, I give my OC a face. Every WIP has a MC and a long list of original characters.
Now onto what I'm sure people really want to know:
Will these OCs only cater to white or pale audiences?
NO. They will not. In creating my own characters, it allows me to give them their own appearances. I can mention their skin color, I can talk about their hair texture, etc without excluding anyone or making anyone feel left out because the MC is no longer the reader, but her own character.
Will these OCs be female only?
Not necessarily. The MCs will most likely be female as I am female and I only have my experiences to go from. There will be male OCs but I do not write explicit mxm when it comes to my stories. All future pairings will tell you what to expect. So please read all future warnings accordingly. That is your responsibility as the reader.
And finally, I want to remind everyone reading this that this is my blog. This is my escape from the real world and from real world problems. I started this blog to post my writing, which is a hobby of mine. I started writing fanfiction because I wanted something specific from the community and I wasn't seeing what I wanted to read. So I encourage all of you: if you see something lacking from the community, contribute. Don't demand it from writers who create content for free in their free time. You want to see something specific in fandom content, create it yourself. That's what the vast majority of us content creators have done.
And as a final note: stop. asking. for. updates.
Yes, a sequel to Did You Hear That? is coming.
Yes, I'm going to finish Tales from Camp.
YES, In the Fox's Lair is still going to happen.
When?
Your guess is as good as mine. This holiday season has been particularly hard on me and I've been having trouble with my mental state as well as being actually sick. I didn't tell a lot of people this, but I had to test for covid a week ago and luckily I tested negative but it still took a huge toll on me both physically and mentally.
Thank you to those of you who reached out to me this morning in my inbox. I really appreciate it and I love you all. Thank you to @uwu-yifan for always being my rock, I love you more than words can express. And a huge thank you to @grassywoozi for talking to me at 5 am my time and helping me through an extremely rough patch. Thank you so much grac and I love you so much ♥️
An updates post is coming to let you all know when to expect my posts to resume again. Most likely I will resume at the end of January which gives me the rest of December (all of 3 days lol) and all of next month to crank out some content for you all. ~𝐤.
