I think this was Kiwi's first Christmas with us.. He got so many kitty toys but tissue paper, holy shit!

Poor Kiwi had three enemas this week for constipation that ultimately didn't work well enough and he needed to be sedated for removal. He's now on:

Kidney care prescription diet

Aluminum hydroxide phosphate binder (because kidney disease)

Oral iron supplement (because anemia, because kidney disease.. Contributing to constipation?)

Simentra for high blood pressure

100 cc daily subq fluids

Lactulose

And cisapride twice a day to make him defecate.. This is the worst one. He drools and panics for like 10 minutes after because of the taste.

One or two of these can be disguised in food but most of them we have to syringe feed to him and he just fucking hates it. Everything oral except simentra is twice a day. He seems so sad.

I hate having to do this but I am starting to think about letting him go to preserve his dignity. He's such a sweet cat and he doesn't deserve any of this shit.

Me staying in vet med so we can get Kiwi's discounted kidney food and fluid therapy even though half-staffed curbside veterinary care in 90 degree weather in scrubs and a mask is inhumane 🥴
