WriYe Wednesdays: 12 February
Showcasing Last WriYe'er Standing
First of all, what exactly is LWS? It's just like any of those TV Shows you've seen or the spinoffs on the internet like Last Icon-Maker Standing or any of those. Everyone writes; everyone votes; someone eventually wins.
How we do it on WriYe is that every other Saturday, a prompt is posted. This prompt can be a picture, a quote, a song, a title, an opening line, a theme... ANYTHING. All of the participants then get until the following Saturday [yes, a week] to write a complete short story of 3,000 words or less and submit it to the specified email. On Sunday, erin posts each of the pieces in a random order to the Read Me, Feed Me section of the forum and everyone has until Friday night to read each piece and vote / offer critique on the pieces. The points are tabulated and each week, the person with the lowest score is "voted off."
In the case of a tie, the person with the lowest cumulative score is the "loser."
The word "loser" is in quotes because really, no one loses but the person who doesn't participate. Everyone comes out with a finished short story every other week, and a handful of constructive criticism on the off weeks. Pretty good deal, right?
