kyle, tx is a great place to live. the more time you spend here the more it grows on you. there are things to do, you just have to know where to look. that's where kyle life comes in!
As far as raising a family goes, the town is hard to beat. Both high schools are decent... I mean, they are public schools in Texas, so obviously they're not incredible, but at the same time there are plenty worse in the Austin & San Marcos areas.
One of the main draws to Kyle is that it is a commuter town. housing is affordable, and residents are only about 10-15 miles outside of Austin. Getting to the heart of downtown would only take a person 20-25 minutes without traffic. Speaking of traffic, one nice thing about living outside of Austin is not having to deal with terrible traffic everyday. In hays county the population is a little more spread out so congestion is less of an issue. The main place you see traffic is on the access road and also in the heart of "old kyle" at the four way stop where center street intersects old highway 80. At five o'clock, forget about it.
Entertainment wise, the city does have a river on it's outskirts at 5 mile dam. Over the years it has turned into a very nice park equipped with soccer fields and a nice restroom facility. The river running through 5 mile dam is the Blanco which is the perfect temperature for swimming. Not too cold but it doesn't feel like you are taking a warm bath either. There is no movie theater, but again, we're talking about a commuter town. San Marcos and Austin both have theaters. Who is going to the movies anymore anyway? Ever heard of netflix? Come on people.
