If you don't mind, do you think you could consider making a Kyle x Ray fanfic? It boggles the mind how little there is for that pairing on the internet.
So true! I think I’ve only seen one or two fanfics of it, and no art D:
Anyway, I hope you like it! :)
Ray admired Kyle more than he would like to admit.
He wasn’t sure when it started. He would see Kyle occasionally at festivals, and they would meet each other in stores and the clinic–the clinic the most. Kyle always came in more battered and bruised than the last time, but still grinning sheepishly because he knew Nancy was going to give him an earful.
That’s what Ray loved about Kyle the most. He was always smiling. He was always helping out other people, wherever he could, with no expectation of anything in return.
But Ray kept these thoughts silent. All they exchanged were a few words and smiles, and Ray was okay with that, for now. Until he built up the courage to tell the other man any of what he felt.
It came out of nowhere. At least, that’s what Kyle thought at first.
But when he really thought of it, late at night when he stared up at the ceiling, body aching from the day, Kyle realized that it hadn’t been sudden at all. It was the little things–the shy smiles, the twinkling, promising eyes. Ray’s silky, soft voice.
Everything about him Kyle noticed in little moments, appreciating more every time they met, until one day Kyle looked at Ray, the man smiled at him, and it was like someone kicked Kyle in the chest.
Kyle tried his best to figure out what Ray thought of him. At first, he thought he had no chance, but one day Rosalind mentioned, rather knowingly, that her brother had always been shy–especially about people he genuinely cared about.
Reassured, Kyle then tried to devise a plan to tell Ray.
It was hard, though. They were hardly ever alone together, and Kyle didn’t want to make things awkward by bringing it up in public.
It came to him one day at the clinic, when Natalie was scolding him.
He could see Ray’s shape in the corridor, and was so distracted by it that he barely heard when Natalie excused herself and left to retrieve something. As she left, Kyle kept his eyes pinned on Ray’s shape.
To his shock, as soon as Natalie had disappeared, Ray shifted and appeared at the door, a shy smile on his face.
Kyle couldn’t help but grin back.
Ray’s cheeks flushed pink, and Kyle’s heart pounded.
“Hey, Kyle,” Ray greeted, avoiding his eye.
Kyle laughed.
“Hey, Ray. Erm… can we talk?”
Ray looked up at him in surprise. He observed Kyle for a long time, his pink cheeks and his bright smile, before flushing again. Ray nodded and stepped further into the room.
Kyle beamed.
