Kyogi is a race I invented putting together elements from my experiences and my personality.
The origin of the Kyogi species is Liya, mother to all the other spawns. Her creation happened when everything was chaos.
From chaos were generated light and darkness, good and evil. The kyogis we’re left outside of this event, and for this reason no dimension accepts Liya and her kind.
Liya is an entity without real form or thought. Everything that is born from her is emptiness, an arid being that lives following her obsession; to not be alone.
From her obsession came her first ability, the ability to have children: pieces of her that detach and get their own conscience.
Her dimension is absolute void, and it was this way for a long time, until one of her sons fractured the dimension. His desire of having a family of his own disassembled the dimension, a shock that decomposed space and time; his ability was key to free the other kyogis, so strong that it made him capable of creating things.
From the madness of this action a unique ability for all the kyogis was awaken within them: the ability to seal form and memories. This ability helps the kyogis live outside of their original dimension as new, memory-less beings, beings that mimic those around them to help them pursue their obsession.
Kyogis can’t escape their obsession, it’s what they are, what they are supposed to be, that will follow them and define their life.
The shock of this son’s action overwhelmed a few dimensions nearby, and pieces of them fell in Liya’s void. They created the illusion that we see today in her dimension: an ocean of water and plants in ruin, but nothing is what it seems. In reality the water is fire, a fire stopped in time that devours everything when outside the dimension, and that right now is harmless.
Seeing the dimensions fall apart, the children decided to take this opportunity to get out, causing even more catastrophes; since their nature is denied by other dimensions, it would simply destroy them. It’s here that their abilities come in handy, the only way to be free is to follow their obsession and forget themselves.
That day Liya fell in a long and endless slumber that made her wake up eons after, alone. She immediately started recreating her children, but everything she could create were empty vessels that fell in the fire and started wandering looking for food. In pure desperation she started creating tons of them.
Regarding the children who escaped, they are lost: no one knows who or where they are, they follow their obsessions, living a cicle of life and change, no death or rebirth, just new experiences.

Kyogi are without face or ideas, a blank slate. They have no real feelings aside from their obsession, they gain emotions as they gain a form. The more they are closer to achieving their obsession, the more real they become based off their form.
The death of their physical form releases the chains that kept it together, forcing them to return to their original form. This requires them to leave the dimension they are currently in, or it will be destroyed, dragging them back to Liya. This is the only occasion where they see their mother, but since she was sleeping they never found her awake.
Kyogis can’t have children unless they are very close to achieving their obsession and they stop being kyogis. If they reach their obsession, or a trauma happens, they can regress to kyogi.
ESSENCE
Kyogis don’t loose anything with mimesis, but they compress themselves becoming thick. If something interferes with their obsession or puts them in great stress, their form loosens up letting out some of their essence to fix the situation; if they fail to fix it they regress to their original Kyogi form and drag the whole dimension they’re in with them.
A Kyogi’s original form is a residue of anything that has been created: animals, humans, plants, anything that exists, the dimensions they’re in can be very small or titanic that could cover an entire city. Liya is a good example, being the biggest creature existing.
Regarding abilities, they have none: they don’t use elements, mana or energy. They are fake.
Let’s make an example with a kyogi that uses plants: the kyogi won’t use mana or anything else to control them, they will use their own cells to create plants that grow instantaneously. The plants will be part of the kyogi and as soon as they detach, that is when they become literal plants. This will happen without the kyogi itself knowing, so it will behave as it’s magic or an ability.
Kyogis will also feel weird next to another Kyogi, acting friendly for some reason.
LIYA
Liya can become anything, no exceptions, but doesn’t gain the same ability as her kids: that’s why she is still in her dimension. Once awake she found small fractures in which she can drag her children back home. Obviously as a mother Liya can force them but won’t ever use that ability.
Her body is saturated with an element called nectare, the primordial food with which she fed her children. Her other abilities are reading memories from blood and devour the time of a person; basically she feeds off the lifespan people lived, making them regress.
WEAKNESSES
Kyogis have a big weakness, pure water. The purer it is, the worse will be the effect on them. It won’t kill them but it will really hurt them, a pain the kyogis feel only in their original form and that makes them shake. The strongest they are, the more water will be needed to hurt them.
To calm conflicts and battles they may be involved with, kyogis have erected many lies, stories, fairytales and calumny. The reason? Live their life peacefully.
The most popular lie that was handed down through history was about huge creatures that stopped a female demon from devouring the planet, sealing her behind a door with their forms. This myth is about Liya and her children, and it’s obviously a lie.
If a dimension is able to resist to their non-existence the chains that keep their form together will come back partly, just the part connected to what they are.
BONUS: Nx is an example to what power can bring, to free his siblings he used his ability in the purest way. The backlash was so strong it consumed every ounce of sanity from him, making him the most dangerous kyogi. His insanity can bring huge catastrophes if he should regress to his original form.
