This morning one of my babies needed 3mL of blood for labs (way more than is reasonable to get from a heel stick), so they needed a venipuncture. I am proud to say that I performed my first venipuncture on a baby successfully. In the past when my babies have needed a venipuncture they tended to be known hard sticks, so I found more experienced people to help me. So, it took almost a year being in the NICU, but I did it. I was pretty stoked and, honestly, proud of myself.
