Day and Night: I made art out of Dad’s medications. Weekly I fill his pill planners with natural supplements and prescription medications to keep his blood flowing and heart pumping, among other things. I wanted to make a chart of the pills and spread sheet so we could take them to all his doctors appointments and I will know which ones to take out for the week when he has surgery. Labors of Love

At The Scout Guide, we really don’t need a holiday to celebrate love. After all, The Scout Guide is a love story. In the words of Taylor Morgan, our editor in New Orleans, “It’s a beautiful narrative of people passionately devoted to their talents who inspire our community with their beautiful creations.” We are fortunate enough to get to tell their stories all year long. But for this holiday, we are putting the spotlight on those that are partners in love—either in marriage or family. We have a lot of these partners in business and in love in our ranks, but here we’re sharing five of their stories and the things they love to do together when they’re not working on their joint venture. Pop by and show them some love; and don’t forget to tell them The Scout Guide sent you. 

John and Michelle Andersen of Crozet Running “Michelle and I love skiing together.  We grew up skiers, skied when we were dating, and now we love nothing more than being out in the mountains all day with our 13-year-old son who is now a great skier. He is faster than both of us and watching him shred makes us really appreciate what our relationship has grown into. And we are always grateful to be outdoors enjoying mountains.” photo: Ashley Cox

Ann Hay Hardy and Frank Hardy of Frank Hardy Sotheby's International Realty “My father and I enjoy dinner and a movie together on a regular basis. We love The Alamo Drafthouse or The Violet Crown. He also enjoys having us out at his farm where he can drive my two boys around the fields in his farm truck. That's a favorite for the kids. Tiffany and Todd Jenkins of Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group “When Todd and I first started dating, we loved playing golf together. He was an assistant golf professional at The Homestead and I had just started taking lessons. We spent many hours playing the beautiful courses there. He even proposed to me on the 18th green of the Upper Cascades Course. After a long hiatus, we both started playing together again last year. Things are a bit different this time around. Now, we’re a foursome. We love to play with our nine-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son. When the weather is nice, it’s our favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon.”

Lynn Easton and Dean Porter Andrews of Easton Porter Group  "With our crazy travel schedules, a weeknight dinner at home is often the ultimate luxury as cooking is one of our favorite things to do together. Dean takes over the "hot line" in our kitchen and I'll prep by making a marinade or vinaigrette. Frank and Phyllis Joseph of Joseph, Joseph & Joseph “I can say that Frank and I LOVE to paddle board and take any and all opportunities to do so. We go on lakes, rivers, and bays, but haven’t been on the ocean yet. We head out to Beaver Creek for a quick Sunday morning or after-work paddle. We also like going to the Eastern Shore or the lake near Mt Pleasant in Amherst County. Our other things we love to do together is travel and we do so any chance we get. The more exotic the better!
