Damn. The UK Labour party and its media snails are truly odious. People think Mandelson, McSweeney and the like are invasive manipulators, but no. These kind of people have been actually at the core of Labour as an organisation for decades. Contemptuous, deceptive, opportunistic, venal, anti-emancipatory, morally bankrupt, provably incompetent and bigoted and infinitely self-righteous, these are the careerists that have exiled anyone who might threaten their ‘might is right’ approach to politics.
Their dream PM is quickly becoming the most unpopular in UK history and none of them, nor anyone from their media cheerleaders like Polly Toynbee, Paul Mason etc. can actually conceive of the idea that they might have made a mistake.
They cannot imagine the Greens, for example, to be sincere in their politics, because they themselves are not. They will never ever allow anyone left of Blair to get the benefit of the doubt.
They truly see themselves as the arbiters of political reasonableness and they will attempt to destroy all true emancipatory projects, and white wash countless examples of social murder, genocide support, discrimination, corruption and much worse simply because they feel they are divinely entitled to be the only alternative to Toryism or the far-right.
To this day, these people’s attitude is the best example of a morality based so deeply in loyalty to “the right side of politics” that their self-professed principles are entirely voided by their actions.
They will literally abandon all pretence of social liberalism, aversion to censorship, pro-democracy, anti-bigotry, anti-misinformation, anti-corruption, pro-legalism etc. if they believe it might give them an electoral edge.
Their political instincts always boil down to self-enrichment, self-aggrandisement and serving power. They are truly revolting.
