@labyrinthae sent: ( STAR ) staring at mine instead of the stars while stargazing. - chloe, @ rachel !
They had a thing for coming to this old junkyard. To lie down on top of one of their broken trucks, talking about anything and everything over beer or whatever drink they could get their hands on. This was another one of those incidents.
“Do you see that star? That’s Vega, she’s the fifth brightest star in the night sky.” As Rachel’s finger traced over the night sky, it stopped as she found the other star that she sought. “And that’s Altair, he’s the twelfth.”
Taking a sip of her beer, she prepared herself for continuing the story; informing Chloe of why she even mentioned those stars in particular. “Legend has it that Vega was a celestial princess, meanwhile Altair was a mortal cowherd that she fell in love with,” she started, before continuing. “Vega’s dad wouldn’t allow them to be together, so he punished them by putting them into the night sky as stars — far away from one another.” Rachel loved this. Myths and legends, the vast unknown of the stars; the unpredictability of it. The mystery. Her eyes shone from the brightness of them, a chuckle sounding from her lips. “Talk about star-crossed lovers, right?”
Did she fall asleep? Rachel had only heard subtle hums of agreement coming from Chloe. As Rachel turned to her side, she rolled her eyes fondly at the blue haired girl, noticing how Chloe appeared to be wide awake, but she wasn’t exactly looking at the night sky.
“You’re totally not listening to anything I’m saying, are you?” she accused of her, already knowing the answer. No, it appeared that Chloe had been far too occupied with something else. Not once had Rachel caught Chloe’s gaze on the night sky. Rather, she had been eyeing something else — someone else.
With a grin, Rachel cupped Chloe’s face in her hands, nestling herself closer to her to press a soft kiss onto her lips, before looking down at her with heavy-lidded eyes. “You’re such a dork, you know.”
