Yes, we can! Due to the fact this is an EXO and BTS blog, I’m just going to explain a bit about Ladies Code first before paying tribute.
WARNING: There will be mentions of death and a car accident in this passage as well as what happened to the members, so if that could trigger anything, I recommend you don’t read this! :(
So first I think I’ll start off by introducing the members of Ladies code and they are Ashley, Zuny, Sojung, EunB, and RiSe. Funny enough, all of them actually had ties to the entertainment industry before they became a group. For example, RiSe and her sister were in a modeling competition, Ashley was known on YouTube for her dance covers, and Sojung was on “The Voice of Korea”. They debuted in 2013 with the song “Bad Girl” under the company “Polaris Entertainment.” Their most recent song is called “Kiss Kiss” and I personally think it’s really cool, all the colors and the sets are carefully thought-out and colorful. Their looks are amazing and their voices are quite nice!
Last year on September 3rd at around 1 a.m, the members and managers were on their way to another schedule when their car spun out of control and hit into a wall. I believe that sources have said the manager was speeding in very rainy and slippery conditions which resulted in the crash. EunB, a staff member, and RiSe suffered the most major injuries in the crash. Sojung had some major injuries but weren’t life threatening and Ashley and Zuny got away with only a few scrapes and minor injuries. On the way to the hospital was when EunB tragically passed away. Due to the fact that Sojung was receiving treatment and RiSe wasn’t responding or waking up in the days that followed after the crash, Ashley and Zuny were the only members that could attend her funeral.
After Sojung’s condition improved and she could speak and eat by herself, she was purposely not told of the accident and the members. The doctors said that it would worsen her health and slow down the healing process due to the grief and stress, however she realized something was wrong when the staff members visiting her wore all black and were very serious. She ended up getting a hold of her phone somehow and searched up online which is how she found out. RiSe’s parents flew from Japan to see her because she wasn’t doing well at all. The thing was, her brain was damaged and that stopped her from performing actions like breathing on her own and speaking and stuff. Not only that but the paramedics couldn’t recognize her because her injuries to her head were so severe. She had to endure a lot of surgeries and at one point they had to stop 11 hours in because she wouldn’t make it. This girl fought for her life for 4 days until she passed away on September 7. Sojung, Zuny, and Ashley attended her funeral.
Whenever I get really upset about the accident or watch the videos of the funerals on YouTube, I just like to think about how great Ladies Code was and how much fame they received in just a year. I follow the lyrics of “I’m Fine, Thank You” which is one of their amazing songs. It goes, “Just this one day I cry, wishing happiness forever, Goodbye. Sometimes you can think of me and smile, I’m Fine Thank you. Thank you.” I’ll definitely cry sometimes when I think about it, but then I finish and think positively about the girls. I like to believe that they would want their fans to be happy and instead of feeling sad because of the accident, they should instead think of the group Ladies Code and all their beautiful memories and achievements.
Another thing that makes me feel better is a tweet that RiSe responded to a while back. A fan asked her, “Who’s the member that you feel uncomfortable leaving alone?” And RiSe responded back with, “EunB!!!” Something Lavelies (fans of Ladies Code) like to say is that after EunB passed away, RiSe went up to join her because she didn’t want her to be left alone. We like to say that they have each other’s back and are taking care of each other while looking out for the other 3 members.
Now that it’s been a year since the accident, We truly hope that all the members are doing well. I know there was a memorial concert in Japan for the girls and that the remaining 3 are back to practicing while receiving therapy. We hope that EunB and RiSe are resting in peace, and we hope that the families of those affected are also doing well. One thing that’s for sure is that Ladies Code will never be forgotten and they will remain in our hearts forever, as Doctor Seuss says, “Don’t cry because it’s over, Smile because it happened.”
