Welp, I was drawing the light spirit in my story, I found out I didn't have an eraser on hand, my good erasers are in the living room, and people are sleeping. Sssssoooo enjoy the eye murder.
She honestly looks a lot older than I intended. What was intended was for her to be kind of the one taking things WAY too seriously and by the book but nervous and not knowing what she's fully getting into. She's meant to be the greenhorn in the group, she's just a youngin' about 16 in the current writing. I tried to fix it by adding some wrinkles to the suit to make it look large on her, then realized I don't know how to do that and the wrinkles look more like tears or detailing blehhhhh. Also the glasses are a fucking nightmare because I am horrid with noses never know how to draw them in shape or size properly. This is gonna need a redo even for my eye murder creations this was bad.

Why had this day turned into shit? I woke up this morning in a good mood. My hair and makeup looked amazing. I made it to work early. I had a decent night of tips. I even met a couple of hot guys who were not total douchebags. Overall, it had been a pretty good day. So why then, on my way home did I have to run into these assholes?
“Hey there baby, looking good.” I hear a male voice say from behind me and I roll my eyes.
Just ignore them.
“What’s the matter sweetheart, you think you’re too good for us?” Another male voice asks, and I clench my fist so tightly that my fingers were turning white.
Keep walking. Do not hurt them.
I keep my thoughts on repeat as I continue down the street until a man twice my size and built like a brick house steps into my path. His brown eyes looking me up and down hungrily. My stomach churned.
“Wanna join us for a little party?” He asks and I narrow my eyes at him.
“No.” I answer my words filled with finality.
“Come on, you don’t mean that.” He adds as he reaches out to touch me.
I instantly step back out of his reach causing his hand to miss my shoulder and fall to his side.
“I do mean it. Now, move while I’m still asking nicely.” I demand making him chuckle at me.
“Or what sweet cheeks? What are you going to do?” He questions moving towards me again and I suddenly realize the guys from before are still there as they stop me from moving back any further.
I feel a hand touch my waist and I instantly slap it away.
“Do not touch me.” I state anger filling my words.
“Come on, just play around with us. You’ll enjoy it.” The man from behind me says and I roll my eyes.
“I seriously doubt that.” I retort making his friends laugh at him.
“Let’s go baby,” The big man says reaching out and grabbing my arms holding it dangerously tight.
“You have three seconds to get your hand off of me.” I warn my jaw clenching.
“Or what? What are you gonna do?” He challenges as he jerks me into his chest.
Fuck this shit.
Using just a hint of my super strength I grab the wrist of the hand that was holding my arm and giving it a quick squeeze make him fall to his knees. A cry of pain leaves his lips making his friends come to his rescue. I feel them move behind me and I smirk as I twist just right to send the big dude flying into them. Wiping my hands against each other, I place them on my hips and cock an eyebrow at my attackers.
“I’m going to give you one more chance. Apologize, and then be on your way.”
“Why would I apologize to some freak?!” The big guy yells and I narrow my eyes.
“Cause if you don’t,” I walk closer to them my eyes slowly starting to glow as brightly as the sun. Fear fills their eyes and I do not even need to finish my sentence. My eyes speak for themselves.
“I’m sorry,” Big guy instantly yells out as he tries to scramble to his feet. His buddies following suit.
“I’m sorry, what?” I add folding my arms over my chest.
“I’m sorry, ma’am.” They all yell out and I smile.
“Good, now remember, treat ladies with the respect they deserve, or I’ll find you.” I warn and their faces pale. “Bye-bye.” With a quick wave of my hand, they jump to their feet and race away.
Taking a deep breath, I look to the sky and seeing the moon glowing brightly let out a heavy sigh. I knew Gotham was a dangerous city, but after everything that had happened in Metropolis, I had needed a break. A break from being a hero and fighting crime. Plus, a break from him. My heart winces at the memory and I shake my head.
I force the memory from my head and continue back on my way home. Maybe a tub of ice cream and some take-out would raise my spirits.

Bruce stood on the roof of a building catty-corner to the alley where the event had taken place. He had watched the altercation with curious eyes. He had met her earlier that day when a Dick had wanted to meet with him at a little restaurant nearby. At first Bruce had been surprised about the location of their meeting but seeing his oldest smile brightly at the beautiful waitress cleared up any questions he had previously had.
Flashback
Bruce walked through the restaurant door and gave the room a once over before his eyes landed on his oldest son’s figure. The boy was smiling brightly as he talked with a (H/C) waitress who had her back towards Bruce. Dick’s eyes glance past her and landing on Bruce give him a quick wave. Bruce unbuttons the buttons on his suit as he closes the distance between them. Reaching the seat, he swiftly slides into the booth seat across from Dick.
“Hey Bruce, glad you could make it.” Dick starts making Bruce nod. “Bruce, this is (Name).”
“Hello.” Bruce says his eyes glancing up to look at her politely but as they move back to look at Dick, he had to do a double take his eyes landing on the beautiful waitress in front of him.
“Hi.” (Name) replies softly a smile filling her lips.
Their eyes meet and Bruce swears that she was like the sun. Her bright smile and shining (E/C) eyes made his heart race in his chest.
“Nice to meet you.” Bruce adds a smirk on his lips.
“Nice to meet you too.” She replies shyly. “What can I get you to eat?”
“I’ll just take a coffee.” Bruce replies quickly and she nods.
“And you’ll have the deluxe?” She adds as she turns back to Dick.
“Yes ma’am.” He replies a smirk filling his lips as he tries to flirt with her.
“Coming right up. I’ll be right back.” She replies smiling at them both before she turns and walks away.
Bruce can’t help but stare after her as she walks away. His eyes unconsciously look her up and down examining every inch of her. From her hair down to her feet which were uncharacteristically in a pair of dark blue high heels. Normal waitresses would not be caught dead in high heels and he would know. He had dated enough of them. The sound of Dick clearing his throat brought Bruce back from his staring.
“I know she’s pretty Bruce, but we have to talk.” Dick jokes making Bruce glare at him.
“What did you need?” Bruce asks as he leans back in his seat.
“Nothing, just wanted to have lunch.” Dick replies making Bruce cock an eyebrow at him.
“Right.” Bruce says leaning forward to rest his arms on the table.
“And I might have wanted to talk to you about Damian.”
“What did he do this time?”
“Knocked over a meth lab over in Bludhaven. Almost got some innocent people killed.”
“I’ll talk with him.” Bruce concludes his eyes catching sight of (Name) as she makes her way back over with his coffee and Dick’s drink.
As she sets the mug of coffee down in front of him, she gives him a sweet smile. Bruce offers a polite smile in return as he reaches out to pull the coffee closer to him.
“Thank you (Name).” Bruce says and her smile brightens.
“You’re very welcome.” She replies a tinge of rouge filling her cheeks.
Bruce had to admit he was having some unsavory thoughts about her at this moment and it was driving him crazy. He usually didn’t feel this way about a woman this fast. He wanted to touch her, but he held back.
“(Name) how long have to you worked here?” Dick asks pulling her attention.
“Only a month or so. I just moved here from Metropolis.” She says and he looks through his eyelashes at her to see that she was surprised at what she had said.
“Metropolis, huh, why would you want to move here?” Dick asks and Bruce must fight the urge to kick his son under the table.
“Well,” She pauses for a moment her eyes turning sad and it made Bruce furious. “I wanted a fresh start, I figured why not Gotham.” She answers honestly making Dick and Bruce eye each other in surprise. People didn’t usually move to Gotham for a fresh start. In fact, they ran from Gotham. “Sorry, but I have to go, if you need anything please don’t hesitate to ask.” She says as she quickly moves away from the table.
“Isn’t she pretty?” Dick asks as they both stare off after her.
Pretty doesn’t cover it.
“I need to go.” Bruce says as he finishes his coffee off. “I’ll talk to Damien.”
“Thanks Bruce, tell Alfred I’ll be late tonight. I have a mission with Babs.” Dick adds and Bruce nods.
Standing up he makes his way toward the door when he almost runs into her. She hadn’t been paying attention to where she was walking and almost ran smack dab into him.
“Shit, I’m sorry. I should have been paying attention.” She says quickly as she chastises herself.
“It’s fine (name).” He says and she relaxes. “Thank you for the coffee.”
“You’re welcome.” She replies offering him a soft smile. She goes to walk past him when he stops her.
“This might seem forward of me, if it is, I apologize; but if you’d like I can show you around Gotham sometime.” Bruce hears himself ask and even he is surprised. Had he really asked her that?
“Um,” She starts her body radiating how uncomfortable she was.
“I’m sorry, forget I asked.” He quickly adds as he goes to walk past her.
“I’m sorry, wait.” She calls as she gently reaches out to grab his arm. “I’m a little uncomfortable, I won’t lie.” She pauses giving him a chance to turn back to face her. “But I didn’t say no.” She adds and he lets out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding.
“Oh?” He says and instantly wishes he could smack himself.
“Yeah, um, I’m off tomorrow if that works for you.”
Fuck, he had an important Justice League meeting tomorrow.
“Tomorrow works.” He answers making a mental note to push the meeting to later.
“Cool, um I’ll meet you in Robinson Park about noonish then?” She asks and he nods.
“Works for me.”
“Okay, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow then Bruce.” She says a bright smile on her lips.
God she was gorgeous.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” He says flashing her a smile before she rushes off back to work.
End of Flashback
Bruce did not know what to think about what he had just witnessed. Who was she really? The fact that his interest in her wasn’t swayed by the sudden discovery surprised him. Against his better judgement he follows her and when it’s quiet enough he makes his presence known to her.
“Pretty interesting display, you showed back there.” He says making her stop in her footsteps. He watches as she turns towards him with a worried look on her face.
“Are you here to lecture me?” She asks worry turning into anger.
“No, I thought you standing up for yourself was admirable.” He answers honestly and she softens. “What are you doing here in Gotham?”
“Look Bats, I came here to get away from Metropolis, funny I know, considering its right across the bay, but this was the only place I could think of.”
“Who are you really? I’ve seen your eyes before.” Bruce says as he remembers the bright glow of them.
“Can we talk about this inside?” She asks pointing to her apartment building. “Rather not air my dirty laundry out here if you don’t mind. I won’t run, I have no reason too.”
Against Bruce’s better judgement he nods.
“Cool, I’ll open the window when I get there.” She replies as she turns from him and heads into her building.
Bruce moves to the roof as he waits patiently for her to open her window. His mind starts to run wild with thoughts about who she could be. She wasn’t a villain, that was certain. She just did not have that air about her. He had been wrong before though. A few of his exes could attest to that. The window opens and he stealthily makes his way into it.
Batman/Bruce Wayne X Reader (Lady Light) X DC universe
Warnings: past trauma, lies, ETC
(A/N) Please read the intro first. Here’s chapter 1, the next part will come out on Jan 24th. Please like, comment, and reblog. I would love to hear what you all think.
I take a deep breath as I stand at my front door not wanting to open it. Of course, Batman had seen what happened. This was his domain. He saw everything that happened in Gotham. This was not good. When I tell him who I am, it was only a matter of time before HE knew I wasn’t in Metropolis anymore and I was done with the whole superhero thing.
Unlocking my door, I walk inside and setting my bag down on the counter I walk over to the window and opening it let out a heavy sigh. This was gonna suck. I walk over to my room and opening the closet pull out the case that held my super suit and sigh. I thought I was past this. Opening it, I grab the simple white mask and then closing the case slide it back into the closet. The mask should be enough.
I walk back out to the living room to see Batman standing there and I am instantly aware of just how tall and muscular he really is. The suit did nothing for him. He clears his throat and I shake my head free of the thoughts that were running through them.
“Sorry, it’s just been a while since I saw you in the light.” I answer honestly causing him to tense.
“When was that?” He asks and I look up as I try to remember.
“Can’t remember the exact day, but I know it was on the watchtower. When Diana introduced me to everyone as,” I pause as I place my mask on my face and run my hands through my hair changing the color to a shimmering blonde color.
“Lady Light.” Batman concludes and I nod.
“Haven’t heard that name in a while.” I reply quickly changing my hair color back to my normal one as I take off my mask.
“Why’d you disappear?” He inquires and I shake my head.
“Sorry Bats, we don’t know each other well enough for me to tell you that.” I reply tossing the mask onto the coffee table. “So, are you gonna tell them where I am?” I ask addressing the elephant in the room.
“They deserve to know that you aren’t dead.” Batman concludes and I roll my eyes.
“You always knew best didn’t you.” I retort crossing my legs. “But you’re right. You can tell them I’m fine.” My eyes plead with him as I continue, “Just please, do not tell them where I am.”
Batman folds his arms over his chest, and I wait for him to chastise me, but he doesn’t.
“Very well.” He answers and my eyes shoot to his as confusion fills my eyes.
“You’re not going to tell them?” I inquire moving to stand in front of him.
“It’s not my secret to tell.” He answers and I nod.
“Thank you. Honestly, you’re the last person I thought would help me.” I answer honestly and he nods slightly.
“I can understand why.” He replies moving to the window. Before he leaves, he stops and reaching into his utility belt he grabs something and then holds it out to me. “Take this.”
“What is it?” I ask as I cross the floor to him. I look down to see a communicator and I cock an eyebrow at him.
“If you ever want to come back, or even just to talk. I’ll be here.” He replies and then without another word he is gone.
I stare off after him in confusion for a while. That was very uncharacteristic of him. Why would he do that for me? I though he hated me. Well hate may be a strong word, but I did not think he liked me. I run my fingers against the communicator as I think to myself that maybe I had been wrong about him.
~~~
I stand at the water fountain in the middle of the park my hands wringing themselves against the strap of my purse. I hadn’t slept that much last night, terrified that Batman would have lied and the person I did not want to see the most would have been at my door. I would have canceled on Bruce today, but unfortunately, I didn’t have his number. So here I was. Dressed in a nice sundress with my converse on.
I look down at my watch to see that I was a little early. Letting out a heavy sigh I find a clean spot on the fountain to sit. My mind was still racing about last night. I didn’t know why but Batman seemed weird. He was different than I remembered him.
Why? When I had been a part of the Justice League, he and I fought all the time. People joked that it was because I was the Sun, and he was the Night; but I knew that was bullshit. I glance around at all the people at the park to see them all enjoying themselves and the sunshine and I smile. One of the reasons I had left the League was because I wanted that. I wanted to be normal.
Sure, I loved being a hero. There was an amazing feeling when you saved someone’s life. It was intoxicating. The rush you got from their love and adoration was dangerous. It was like an addiction.
Closing my eyes, I let the sun soak into my skin and smile softly. The sun was my symbol. I am, or was, Lady Light. So naturally I got my enrichment from the sun. The more I was in it the healthier I looked.
“(Name),” I hear Bruce’s voice say my name and I open my eyes. “Sorry I’m late.”
I look at my watch and see that it’s one minute after noon and I chuckle.
“Really? You consider one minute as late.” I laugh as I stand up next to him. “If you think by those standards, I’m always late.” I smile brightly and he returns my smile.
“There’s nothing wrong with that.”
“Glad you see it that way.”
“Shall we?” he asks holding his arm out for me to take and I nod.
“So, where are we going?” I ask as I intertwine my arm with his.
“Well, there are some museums, the opera house, the shopping district; you pick.”
“While those all sound amazing, I was thinking more of the places you find interesting.” I reply as I look up to meet his gaze.
Confusion mapped his face and I instantly want to take back what I said.
“I’m sorry,” I add, and he furrows his brow.
“Why are you sorry?” He asks and I let out a sigh.
“You looked like I had said something wrong.”
“No, I was just surprised. The women I usually see always jump for the shopping idea.” Bruce says and I roll my eyes.
“If I wanted to go shopping, I’d take myself. No offense.” I reply and he smirks.
“None taken, so places I find more interesting.” He pauses for a moment before his eyes light up. “Are you hungry?”
I find Diana in the kitchen searching for something to eat and smile as I see my friend for the first time in forever. She was the one person I missed the most after leaving. I knew she understood why I did what I did but I still needed to apologize for basically running away.
“You know, Clark hides some Pop-tarts in the raisin bran box.” I say softly causing her to instantly turn toward me a bright smile on her face.
“That’s just bad hiding skills.” She replies a playful smirk filling her lips.
Then before either of us has a chance to say anything else I rush over and wrap my arms around her. She hugs me back and it was like we were back in Themyscira. I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss my home. Everything there was nice and simple. The only downside was that no men were allowed there, and I doubt I’d be able to live without Bruce.
“I’ve missed you.” I say as I pull away and hold her at arm’s length.
“I knew you’d be back.” She replies a smile filling her beautiful face.
“I wish I could say that was the reason I was here,” I pause worry filling my eyes.
“But?” She questions her expression mimicking mine.
“I need to ask you some things, about when I was younger.” I say and she motions to the table and chairs.
“Ask away,” She says, and I take a deep breath.
“When I was younger, did I ever have any moments when I would just check out? Like my body would be there, but I wasn’t.” I ask and her eyes widen slightly. “What? What is it?”
“When you were younger my mother gifted you with this beautiful hawk.”
“You mean Artemis?” I ask and she nods.
“You loved her more than anything. There was never a moment when the two of you were apart. Do you remember how she died?” Diana asks and I furrow my brow as I try to remember the incident.
“I think it was a hunting accident. One of the other girls was hunting in the same area I was and accidently shot her.”
“Do you remember what happened after that?” She asks and I clench my jaw as I try to remember.
“No.”
“When you realized that she was dead, your eyes turned black and so did your hair. You attacked the girl and almost killed her. It took the lasso and mother to pull you out of it. After that mother took you into a room and no one else was allowed in there. All I remember was the ground shaking and the sky turning dark.
“Three days later you both emerged but you had no recollection of what had happened, and you were asking for Artemis. It was then that you and I became close friends. Mother believed that I could heal the hurt in your heart from your loss. Since then, we haven’t seen Void since.”
“Void?” I ask my brow furrowing.
“That’s what mother called her. Since you are Light, and you can’t have light without dark.”
“Clark’s met her.” I say making Diana’s eyes widen slightly.
“When?”
“He said when I caught him and Lois together my eyes turned black and it was like I wasn’t there anymore. The room was dark and cold.”
“So, she didn’t completely show herself?” Diana asks confusion on her face. “Somehow, you unconsciously kept her in check.”
“I guess.” I answer shrugging my shoulders.
“I hate to say this, but her showing herself is connected to your mental state. Like if you experience something devastating, she’ll fully show herself, and when that happens, I don’t know what will happen.”
“That thought alone terrifies me. Especially since I now have a danger prone family.” I add making her let out a worried sigh. “And you know for a fact those boys won’t stop putting themselves in danger. Just look who their father is.”
“At least with Connor you don’t have to worry too much.”
I nod in agreement. The Kryptonian part of him basically made him invulnerable.
“Unless it’s someone who knows he’s weak to kryptonite.” Diana adds and I glare at her. “Sorry.”
“Do you think I could control her?” I ask and Diana shrugs her shoulders.
“I’m not sure, but I know you. I know you’d never let someone take over your body and hurt others.” Diana says and I nod.
“Thank you, for telling me. Not gonna lie, I’m a little worried about it but I think I’ll be okay. If anything happens, you’re the only one with the ability to stop me. Please, promise me that you will, even if it means I must go back to Themyscira.”
“Bruce won’t be happy about this.”
“Of course, he won’t, but he’ll understand, eventually.” I confirm and she nods.
“Are you back?” she asks and taking a deep breath I smile softly.
I knew without a doubt now that I had people who cared about me and would be here to help me. I could do this. I could come back and help people. Yeah, it would be difficult at first. Especially with how awkward it would be between me and Clark.
“I think I am.”
~~~
I found Bruce in the command room messing around with some buttons and switches. Flash and Cyborg were there with him and I take a deep breath before I walk over to them. I needed to talk with Bruce about what I had discussed with Diana. He needed to know that I was coming back and that if something happened to him or the boys, and Void came out, I needed to know that he would be okay with Diana taking me down.
“Who’s this?” Cyborg asks and I smile.
“Geez you leave the league for a few months and everyone forgets who you are.” I joke and their eyes narrow as they try to figure out who I was. Rolling my eyes, I lift a hand and create a ball of bright hot light. Recognition washes over them, and I am unable to stop Flash as he runs over and wraps his arms around me.
“Where the hell have you been?!” He inquires and I hug him back as I reply.
“I needed a break.”
“Are you back?” Cyborg asks and I glance over to Bruce whose hands had paused their movement and clearing my throat I pull away from Flash.
“Can you guys give Batman and me a second alone? Please?” I ask as I look back at them.
“Fine, but we’re catching up later.” Flash says and I smile softly at him.
“Of course.” I reply as I watch Flash leave. Cyborg gives me a supportive smile before he follows Flash leaving Bruce and I alone. When I am sure we are alone I walk over to him and wrapping my arms around him let out a heavy sigh.
“So, you want to come back?” Bruce asks and I nod into his back.
“I want to be where I can protect everyone. Especially you and the boys.” I reply and I feel Bruce tense.
“I understand your want to protect the boys, but I don’t need protecting.” He retorts and I roll my eyes.
“Don’t you though?” I reply raising a brow at him as I pull away and move to stand beside him giving him a knowing look. “You’re the most danger prone one out of all of us.” He doesn’t reply because he knows I’m right. “You have the most dangerous villains, like Joker for one.”
“I won’t put you in danger like that.” He announces as he finally looks at me. “(Name),”
“Don’t, we already talked about that. Joker can’t hurt me, physically or mentally. If anything, I could crush him with my pinky.” I joke and Bruce glares at me and I roll my eyes. “I’m joking, well only kind of.”
“How did your talks go?” he asks changing the subject and I turn to lean against the computer console.
“My talk with Clark went well. He’ll try and talk to Connor.”
“And Diana?”
“That… that one was a little more troubling.” I reply as I quickly tell him what Diana and I had discussed.
“You want to go back to Themyscira?” He inquires and I shake my head.
“No, but if that’s what it comes too, I will.” I answer and I investigate his face for any trace of emotion. I look around to make sure no one is here before I continue. “Bruce, I don’t want to leave you or the boys. I love you and them, but I never want to put you all in danger; and Void… I don’t know what she’s capable of.”
“I understand.” Bruce replies reaching out to gently take my hand in his.
“Which brings me to my next issue.” I start my eyes looking down at our joined hands. “I know you have contingency plans for all the league members... except for me.”
“No,” Bruce starts knowing exactly where I’m going with all this.
“Bruce, I need to know that if Diana cannot stop void, I need you to take me out.” I say and he furrows his brow.
“I can’t do that.” He says his grip tightening on me.
“You can’t, or you won’t?” I inquire and he knows I know the truth. “I’m not saying we’ll have to use it; I just want to be prepared. Hopefully, you’ll never have to use it.”
Bruce looks around for a moment before he pulls me into a tight hug. I knew what this hug was. He was going to do as I asked. He was going to make a contingency plan for me, and if I knew him like I believed I did, he would be the one to execute it. My hands snake around his body holding him tighter.
“I don’t want to lose you.” Bruce whispers into my ear and I smile through my hurting heart.
“I know, I hope you never do.” I say softly as I pull away from him and reaching up gently cup his face with my hands. “Bruce, I love you more than anything in this world. If something happens and Void shows herself, I will do my damnedest to fight her to stay with you. I swear I will.”
“I know you will.” Bruce replies reaching up to clasp my hands in his. Pulling them down his brow furrows and I let out a heavy sigh. I needed to lighten the mood.
“How about we think of something else for a while.” I suggest a flirty smirk filling my lips.
“What do you have in mind?” Bruce questions the tension leaving his body.
“Well, there are many rooms here on the watch tower… or we could, you know…” I smile softly as I lean forward and gently yet passionately place my lips against his in a deep kiss.
Bruce’s hands move to my waist as he pulls me into his waist his kiss turning hungrily. Mine shoot up to wrap around his neck and pull him in closer. Before we could go further, he pulls away breathless and grabbing my hand instantly starts to lead me away from the consoles and toward the crew quarters. I giggle inwardly as we sneak past everyone until we reach a room. A soundproof one.
When we are alone, he removes his cowl and instantly pulls me into his arms lifting me up so that I can wrap my legs around his waist. His hands grip tightly to my ass as he tries to pull me in closer. Wrapping my arms around his neck I lean in and passionately kiss his lips.
Bruce moves over to where the bed lies and turning sits down upon it. His hands move from my hips to slip under my shirt, his fingertips touching all the places he knows that drive me wild. A soft moan escapes my lips as I briefly pull away to grab the hem of my shirt and pull it over my head tossing it somewhere in the room.
I smile as reach out and start pulling at his bat suit until he starts to remove it. I take the chance to stand up and remove the rest of my clothes until I am naked in front of him and he is bare before me. I smile devilishly as I move forward and straddling his lap say, “You better be glad this room is soundproof.”
The sound of Bruce’s cell phone getting a text woke him from a deep sleep. He glances at (Name) sleeping soundly naked next to him and he smiles softly. He gently reaches out and moves some hair out of her face so he could admire her sleeping form. After what had happened with her finding out he was Batman, he had been worried that things like this wouldn’t happen again. That she wouldn’t trust him enough.
She had proven his worries wrong. He had thanked Diana for the advice after everything had settled. Of course, she was more than happy to help. Bruce silently rolls over to reach out to his nightstand and grab his phone. Unlocking it he sees a text from Diana and his brow furrows. Reading the contents, he lets out a heavy sigh. Clark knew.
If Clark knew, it was almost time to reveal everything he and Connor found out about what Lois had done. There was more than enough evidence proving that (Name) had told him the truth. The more Bruce thought about how Clark had treated her when she told him the more infuriated, he became. How could Clark be so stupid. Everyone knew (Name) didn’t lie. It was one of her best qualities.
Setting his phone back on the nightstand he rolls back over to wrap his arm tightly around her waist. He gently pulls her closer so that she was nestled against his side. Bruce was going to have to tell her about what he was going to do with Clark. She had told him not to worry about it all, but Bruce couldn’t help it, He wanted to clear her name. Clark also needed to know the truth.
Bruce is pulled from his thoughts by the sight of someone standing on his balcony. His head shoots towards the windows to see Clark standing there with a pained expression on his face. Bruce looks back at (Name) and gently kissing her forehead slips away from her and rolling over tosses the covers back. He almost forgot he was naked for a moment when he reaches out to grab his robe.
Slipping his arms through the sleeves he closes it around his waist and tying the strap makes his way to the door. Opening it he slips outside and says, “Not here, meet me in the study.”
Clark’s brow furrows as he looks past the dark knight into the room to see a familiar head of hair laying peacefully in the man’s bed. Clark feels his anger rise as he turns back to look at Bruce.
“Do not wake her up.” Bruce warns as he narrows his eyes at his friend. “I’ll meet you in the study.”
And with that Bruce closes the door and glancing at (Name)’s sleeping form smiles softly before he heads down the stairs to where Clark was probably already waiting steaming with anger.
Walking into the Study he sees Clark staring out the window and Bruce sighs.
“Clark, sit down.” Bruce says as he walks over to sit in his office chair.
“How long Bruce?” Clark asks not moving from his position by the window.
“A few months now.”
“Just a few months?” Clark scoffs as if he is insinuating that it has been longer.
“Yes, we met in the diner she was working at. We started dating soon after that.” Bruce answers honestly.
“You expect me to believe that?” Clark argues and Bruce feels his anger start to rise.
“I’ll leave the cheating to you.” Bruce states making Clark furrow his brows as pain and regret fills his eyes. “Look Clark, I don’t want to fight.”
“Why her Bruce?” Clark asks pain filling his eyes.
“Why not?”
“You knew better than anyone how I felt about her.” Clark replies his voice cracking.
“You ruined your relationship with her all on your own Clark.”
“I know I hurt her. I didn’t mean too.” Clark says as she slowly moves to sit down in the chair opposite Bruce.
“Tell me what happened.” Bruce asks and Clark’s eyes meet his in confusion. “I’ve heard (Name)’s side and I believe her. I’m going to give you a chance to tell me yours. When you are done, I want you to listen to what I have to say.”
Clark thinks for a moment and Bruce folds his arms over his chest.
“Lois and I were once again separated at the time when Diana brought (Name) to the watchtower. From the moment I saw her I thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world. The light that shown around her was intoxicating. I was drawn to her in a way I can’t explain. So, I took a chance and asked her out. For a while everything was perfect. We were happy. Then I started to notice that she was forcing herself.”
“What do you mean?” Bruce asks leaning forward to rest his arms on his desk.
“It was little things at first. Forced smiles at things we would talk about. Forced laughs. I could tell that something was wrong. When I tried to talk to her about it, it would end up in a fight. Things were worse on days I would go visit Jon at Lois’s house. I knew her and Lois didn’t like each other, Lois didn’t hide her anger or disappointment with me that I was trying to move on.
“She would call all the time under the pretense that it was Jon that wanted to talk to me. (Name) never said anything about it because she knows how much Jon means to me; but I could tell it was starting to get to her. Then one night when (Name) was at the Watchtower with you and Diana; Lois showed up at my apartment with tears in her eyes saying she couldn’t do it anymore. She wanted me and wanted to give us another chance.
“I said no, then the world became foggy and I don’t really remember what happened. I woke up the next morning naked in bed with Lois, and (name) was standing in the doorway. I panicked. I jumped to my feet and tried to explain myself to her, but it was like she wasn’t there. I mean her body was there, but her mind was gone.
“Her eyes were pitch black and all the warmth and sunshine I felt from her was gone. I was so shocked I didn’t even try to stop her when she left. Of course, when she was gone, I made Lois leave. I still don’t know what exactly happened that night. From then on when I tried to talk to (Name) her eyes would just darken, and she’d avoid me. That was until Conner showed up.”
Clark takes a deep breath as he leans back in his seat to look up at the ceiling.
“I didn’t know how to react to the news that he was a clone of me and Lex. I took it even worse when I was told that he was also a part of (Name). When she told me that, it made sense considering Conner’s anger issues and even his kindness. I see her in him more than I do lex or even myself. That’s why I pushed him away. I couldn’t look at him and not see her.
“Things only got worse when she tried to tell me that Lois was responsible for Lex having her DNA. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t believe it. And I lost her. (Name) disappeared after that and at first, I wanted to go after her, but then I realized that maybe she’d be better off without me. From the pictures I’ve seen I guess I was right.”
“You know she was telling the truth about Lois right.” Bruce says and Clarks brow furrows.
“No, she wasn’t.”
“Clark, I have proof that it was Lois.” Bruce announces and Clark’s eyes narrow.
“I asked Lois, Bruce. I listened to her heartbeat. She wasn’t lying when she said she didn’t do it.”
Bruce brow knits as he leans forward and hitting a button on his desk watches as a secret computer pops up and scans his face and eyes. After hitting a few keys Bruce brings up the video feed and then motions for Clark to come to his side of the desk.
“Then what is this?” Bruce questions as Clark joins him in front of the monitor.
“That’s not possible. Lois lied to me.” Clark breathes out anger and disbelief in his eyes.
“There had to be a good reason for Lois to do what she did. We’ve been researching everything that happened around then, and I think there’s something you should know.” Bruce pauses as he turns back and types some code into the keyboard.
“We?” Clark asks.
“Connor, the boys, and I. (Name) is not involved.” Bruce concludes.
The scene changes and as Bruce zooms in on Lois’s face, they can see that there’s something wrong. Her eyes were dark, like she wasn’t in control of her body.
“Lois was manipulated?” Clark asks tilting his head.
“We think Lex used some sort of new technology that manipulates the brainwaves causing the victim to do whatever the wielder wants with them having no recollection of the events that have transpired. Lois didn’t know what she was doing. So, she didn’t lie to you. Neither of them did.”
Clark moves from the desk back to the window as he tries to think about what to do next.
“I think you and (Name) should talk.” Bruce says taking Clark back. “You both need closure. Then we can go after Lex and figure out how he did it, and why.”
“She won’t talk to me.” Clark sighs folding his arms over his chest. “I don’t even know how to face her after finding all this out.”
“I’ll talk with her.” Bruce replies standing up to move over to Clark. “I make no promises though. Especially since she has no idea the boys and I looked into all this.”
“I feel bad for you when she finds out.” Clark jokes making Bruce smirk.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you myself that (Name) and I were together.” Bruce apologizes taking Clark back.
“I know you had your reasons.” Clark replies slowly turning to look at his friend. “Just promise me you’ll take better care of her than I did. She deserves all the happiness in the world.”
