How often have I heard that sentence… ‘I wish to die’. Life does not seek death. Life fears death. Life will always want to find a way around the Lady’s embrace. Even when pain and loss clouds your judgement, even when you have nothing left, when one believes there is no other option BUT dying… The real answer is always the same.
You want to know what they desire most?
A perfect song that really reminds me of the Duel Tongues
Duel Tongues
Duel tongues are humans that can talk to pokemon. (And no, they don’t actually have two tongues.)
While in the mortal world it’s unknown as to why this happens, there is a legend saying that those that can speak to pokemon were a pokemon themselves in a past life, and are thus destined for greatness. They are seen as a bridge between mankind and nature, and are often revered as prophets or holy figures in some cultures.
At least, that’s how it was in the past. As technology and civilization advances, now machines being able to tell you how a pokemon feels, the belief has fallen off into nothing more than a fairy tale. These people, however, still exist, and are often left confused as to why they have this special skill and others don’t.
As for the actual reason for this to happen, the legend stated is only partially true.
Duel tongues were, in fact, pokemon in a former life, but ones that had committed horrible crimes. Whether it be killing a child out of malice or burning down homes for fun, the souls of these pokemon were eventually reaped by Yveltal, and were bound to be devoured by the lady of death. Miraculously though, she gives the soul a second chance, usually out of personal entertainment, and she sends them back into the world to be reborn as a human.
Duel tongues are generally very aggressive people and are given 25 years to change theirs ways before the lady comes and devours them. However, upon rebirth, these damned souls don’t remember what happened prior, their only lingering memory being that upon age 25 something will happen. With this challenge, very few Duel tongues nowadays actually change and live out their second life peacefully.
