I defeated the Gatekeeper. The mix of bone arrows and Relmyna’s tears made the fight short and easy. I took the keys and entered the gates.
When I did so, I felt something wash over me. Fear, but not mine. The fear of others. Thousands of paranoid souls screaming in terror. When I looked at my hands, I saw blue mist floating from my fingers and realized that Sheogorath had given me a gift.
I made my way through the Shivering Isles, cutting through hundreads of bug-like creatures and those strange toad things before finding a large city. It’s stone walls were carved with Sheogoraths face’s and the gates had two women guarding them. Women that felt strangely familiar, like friends I haven’t seen in years.
The Dark Seducer guards welcomed me to New Sheoth, specifically Crucible. I entered the city, my nose curling at the stench of sewage. The streets were dirty, the buildings were decrepit, and the people all looks depressed.
I made my way through the town, stopping shortly at the Smith. Cutter told me about madness shards, and said that I should bring them to her to forge weapons, but to never go to Mania and get Amber weapons and armor or she’ll cut me.
I left quickly after my weapons were fixed.
When I entered the Palace district, I had the unnerving feeling of familiarity. Like I’ve been here before. Approaching the palace caused this feeling to grow even more, especially when I saw the Golden Saints.
Entering the palace didn’t help either, as I know that I’ve seen this room before. I know that I’ve seen that throne. And I know that I’ve seen the madman talking to me before.
Sheogorath told me he had a use for me, that he had some errands for me to run, and that I’d do quite nicely. Well, he said that when he wasn’t threatening to play hopscotch with my intestines or to make a drum from my skull.
I’m writing this from the New Sheoth palace, where Sheogorath had given me a room in the House of Dementia. Everything here is familiar, and I know that I’ve been here before. Many of my memories from the Asylum are gone, but maybe if I stay here longer they’ll come back, and I’ll finally know why these strange halls feel like home.
