                           DID SHE hear him correctly? his partner wasn’t going to be home for a couple of weeks? perhaps that made jules a terrible person, but it wasn’t like she was purposefully trying to make moves on vance. he was just such a wonderful dad to his little girl. how could she not have a crush on the man? but she always did her best to keep it professional and friendly. after all, he was taken and was probably not interested in her. “well, at least you guys have some bonding time. i do truly love teaching ryleigh. she has so much potential,” she said sincerely, still smiling. “i suppose i should go now then... it’s getting dark out and i still have a bit of a drive home...”

“Guess it’s true, you can always come back home again,” The brunette was frankly not surprised to bump into them at the only bar in town; fresh from her flight from the city, her carry on bag still at her feet. It had been an impulsive, last minute trip home, but that didn’t matter much to Annabelle. When she felt that unsettled, tight feeling in her chest, she’d left behind her loft in Soho for the familiar sandy beaches of Saltlight. Apparently, she wasn’t the only young adult feeling homesick, since her ex had just sat down a few stools down from her. Their relationship had been tumultuous at best; the first time Annabelle allowed herself to open up to someone, only to be cheated on. It had stung, for a good long while, but she was a completely different person now, so seeing them only caused a minor squeeze to her fragile heart. “Buy me a drink? Least you could do, after writing about me in your book,” She added with an arched eyebrow. While she’d found her fame and fortune in designing, the other had put pen to paper and risen to several best seller lists with their novel about growing up in a small town. @ladyfingcrs​

                             IT’S NOT like adrian was purposefully trying to hurt maritza. but he did have to keep up appearances in order to make it seem like he and gabrielle were happily married... despite the fact that they were in an arranged marriage. he would have thought that maritza would have approached him or at least said hi, so when she didn’t, it made his heart clench painfully. he had gone over, trying to be casual in his approach. “oh... are you enjoying yourself at least?” adrian asked, not wanting to leave soon. “are you... upset with me, mari?” he asked quietly from the corner of his mouth as he stood beside her; as though he wasn’t longing to hold her hand.

                           HE WAS upset with her. he didn’t seem to appreciate her little big gesture. “because you never would be truly happy if she was still alive!” logan argued. “come on; how much money was she getting out of you, huh?” she was upset because she thought she was doing the right thing. but based on his reaction... clearly not. “jesus christ is that all you have a problem with? i can cover this up and make it seem like an accident and set the crime scene somewhere else,” logan scowled, her grip on the knife tightening. “so what, are you going to turn me in for killing your precious wife?” she spat.

                              IF THERE was one thing tatum was well-versed in, apart from art and art history, it was the art of falling for someone who didn’t feel the same way. it wasn’t like she actively tried to fall for people like matt; people who didn’t feel the same way or were just unattainable. but it happens all the time. for someone who gives romantic advice and set her friends up with others, she had a pretty shitty luck when it comes to her own love life. “she has to be the second girl who’s been staring at you for the past twenty minutes,” she remarked lightly. since they were friends, tatum hung out with him at the coffee shop in between her lectures. she was grading some of her students’ essays while working on a croissant, but she found it hard to ignore the way matthew captivated people’s attention. “she’s cute. i think you two would look cute together,” she added, the lie causing her heart to twist inside of her chest.

                           “HONESTY GOES against my very being,” maddox remarked, not at all fazed by her coldness towards him. he expected as much, considering he had betrayed her. “jesus christ, katerina. i’m a thief and a grifter. i’m never fucking honest about anything,” he breathed out, trying to ignore the sting that came with her calling him a ‘coward’. “like you wouldn’t do the same if you were in my shoes.”
