So I promised to post wips of the stories I’m working on to see which story I should focus on after ‘Ten Years’ is finished. Here’s the second one, Be sure to tell me if you liked it!
“How do I know you’re telling me the truth that it’s your birthday?”
“You got me,” Cat Noir drawled with a grin. “I’ve never had a birthday in my life. This is all a sham to get you to hang out with me.”
She punched him lightly in the arm at his teasing.
“But really, are you sure that's what you want? Wouldn't you rather go to a club as a civilian with your friends or something?”
“My father would probably disown me if I did that,” he laughed off. “And you ARE my friend Ladybug.”
Her expression turned incredulous. “But you- you're twenty! Why on earth would he disown you for that?”
“Preserving the family image. If I misbehave it looks bad on him.”
She frowned deeply “It's an insecure man that needs his twenty year old son to uphold his image.”
“Ah, don't let it worry you lovely lady,” he soothed, “Just because my dad’s a hard ass doesn't mean I cant get around the rules.”
His grin went wide. “You’d probably be helping me break at least a couple dozen of them if we go through with my birthday present for example.”
“A couple dozen?”
“Oh god, lets see. Asleep by 11. No leaving the house without permission. No going anywhere without -er someone to keep an eye on me. No leaving the house without my hair being styled properly. No leather. No boots. No weapons. I can't imagine the ears and tail would have gotten a pass either. No alcohol. No nighttime eating. No cake. No parties -wild or otherwise. No uncivilized dancing.”
He wagged his brows at her suggestively. “No girls. -And girls gets its own list,” he informed her knowledgeably. “No holding hands or hugging in public settings. No kissing except for on the cheeks for greetings and partings. No dating. No- well you get the picture.”
“Girls I can understand,” she replied after a moment of bafflement. “Letting a flirty tomcat like you loose on the female population doesn't seem very sporting.”
He snorted a hard laugh at that.
“What I don't get is the no boots rule.”
“Ah, he thinks boots either look too ‘working class’ or too ‘goth’ I think.”
“No eating at night? What do you do if you wake up early and you’re hungry??”
“Sneak out as Cat Noir and find a burger joint or something,” he shrugged. “Before I got my miraculous? I just had to wait til breakfast.”
“And the no parties rule? Wild or otherwise?? What's that supposed to mean?”
“Well balls and dinner parties don't count I guess,” he amended sheepishly. “But no birthday parties and no sleep overs for sure. It used to be no class parties or concerts either but I managed to talk him around those ones a long time ago.”
“The cake rule?”
“Ah, really it's no sweets in general.”
She looked horrified.
“I still manage to get my hands on them occasionally,” he assured her quickly. “But I don't think I’ve had cake on my birthday since I was eleven or twelve, and even then, I’m pretty sure it was sugar free.”
The look of horror stayed firmly in place. It was like he’d just told her he’d been starved and beaten his whole life.
“...Do you have a medical condition or something that would-”
“Nah-” he waved off. “He just doesn't want me to put on any access weight. All comes back to image.”
Her brows furrowed in displeasure. “Right,” she hissed. “Well we’ll just have to make up for it at the club by breaking a bunch more rules while we’re on our date tonight then, won't we?”
Cat Noir jolted up against the wall, his expression no longer relaxed or calm.
“D-Date?” he breathed.
“Didn't you say we'd be breaking the no dating rule?” she purred at him deviously.
“I-No- I mean, Ye- I mean-!!” He cut himself off before his voice could become a squeak.
“Do you not want a date? I thought this was my birthday gift to you.”
“No I-!” he gulped and bravely tried again. “I- v-very much want that!!”
“Good!” she chirped happily. “You have some serious fun having to make up for mister!”
He vaguely registered nodding in agreement. But it was hard to know for sure with no feeling below his ears.
She took that moment to quickly glance down at her yo-yo to check the time. “I need to get back soon.” She looked back up at him. “Want to meet up back here around nine?”
“S-sounds great!” Chat croaked.
“Perfect!”
She stood on her tiptoes, aiming to press a quick kiss to his cheek but getting his jaw instead. Cat Noir inhaled a silent gasp and jolted again at the contact.
“Can’t wait!” she said then, pulling away with a smile.
“Mhee either.”
The moment she was gone Chat collapsed to his knees in shock.
A date? He had a date with Ladybug? THE Ladybug???
