I really enjoyed your analysis of PotC uniforms and naval attire. If you don't mind me asking, I have a question (for fic purposes): from what you've seen, is there a however tiny possibility to interpret Jack's frock as having belonged to an EITC (or other type of) uniform?

umm unfortunately it looks like a regular civilian coat? at the very least, it bears little resemblance to the EITC captain’s uniform. now that said, Jack was a merchant ship captain, whereas the uniform-wearing men of the Company seen in the films seem to be more along the lines of naval officers, especially given Groves’s presence among them, and that in real life, in addition to its merchant fleet, the East India Company did have its own private army and warships
so it’s entirely possible that Jack might have worn that same coat during his EITC days, though it wouldn’t necessarily have been part of a uniform, but rather just what he wore as a civilian merchant captain?
