Would you cancel South Park, Key and Peele, every Family Guy clone, Bojack Horseman, and most comedians. It's okay to not like the jokes. I get uncomfortable with some humor but it isn't fair to demonize Pewdiepie for a stupid joke when we can't seem to Impeach Trump for actual hate speech. Context and intent is important. Demonize real monsters and not people who make mistakes.
Yes. I would happily cancel each and every one of those shows, as they’re incredibly terrible and very poor examples to compare pewdiepie to if you want to ‘support’ him.
And I am not ‘demonizing’ him. I do not believe he is a racist and I do know he meant it as a ‘joke’, or a way to ‘see how far people would go’. I just think he’s a foolish man who needs to grow up and realize that there are things that aren’t funny.
The thing that bothers me most is the people defending his actions. He made a huge mistake and it had consequences. It’s the people acting like we shouldn’t ‘be upset’ with him because context matters that frustrates me the most. I am a human being and it is perfectly within my rights to be upset over this, especially considering my own heritage.
I will not listen to a bunch of strangers telling me how to feel about statements that include the extermination of my loved ones just because they were ‘funny’ or he ‘didn’t think they would do it’. It doesn’t matter. They still did it and he’s still a fool for setting the whole thing up without stopping a single time to ask himself if it was a bad idea.
