I don’t have the heart to discuss the episode, I’m still sad about what Adrien had to go through as Aspik. Instead I’ll talk about a thought that is indirectly related to something we saw in the episode.

LadyPik is basically Ladrien. Now, I love them both with all my heart, but it is obvious that their infatuation gets in their way. Note how I said “infatuation” and not “love”. Because at this point, although they are both in love with each other, it is more of the nervous excited type. Adrien (Chat Noir) thinks Ladybug is the epitome of perfection and tries to live up to her expectations, even though it is out of his limits. Similarly, Ladybug (Marinette) thinks that Adrien Agreste cannot do anything wrong, and is the best. Which gives rise to huge expectations, and divided concentration. Ladybug is too excited to be fighting alongside Adrien, and Adrien in turn is too eager to please Ladybug. And this causes them to lose focus. Which is why I really really don’t want the Love square to come full circle starting with Ladrien. Because this ship is just too much of the nervousness and shyness and misconceptions.

If we are talking about battle couples, I think MariChat will be way efficient fighting alongside each other. Marinette (Ladybug) trusts Chat Noir, and is much more comfortable around him than around his alter ego. Similarly, Chat Noir (Adrien) thinks of Marinette has a very good friend (no jab intended) and admires her on many fronts. This might make them a very formidable opponent to take down, because the only feelings associated are trust and friendship. No going overboard with emotions. And this might also be a very good opportunity to develop the other sides of the love square, namely Adrien’s feelings towards Marinette and Ladybug’s towards Chat Noir. And that will be some very healthy development, which I’ll be glad to see. This might be a better way to lead to the identity reveal, actually.

I really really hope that Adrien is the one to give Marinette the Mouse Miraculous. That way, we may get to see their dynamic, in relationship and in battle. It will be like Ladybug giving the Snake Miraculous to Adrien in Desperada, but even better and definitely more powerful.
