Chapter 6 Scene below:
“I mean…” She winced as she rocked back on her heels—which, honestly, was such a bad idea, given the way her feet were screaming for relief. “Usually, you take a woman to dinner before propositioning her.”
“Dinner…” he breathed, as if she had suggested lassoing the moon. “Dinner with you?”
“Is that such a foreign concept, Adrien?”
“Um… no, I just—now?”
“Why not?” She shrugged. Her chin gestured up at the building’s rooftop. “I don’t think we’re needed as Best Man and Maid of Honor tonight, do you?”
He shook his head slowly, eyes refusing to blink as if he couldn’t believe his luck.
She held up her phone, quickly summoning her driver and shooting Alya a text to let her know they left. “Where to?” she asked. “I know a great place only a block away. They have an amazing Coq au vin. Wanna go there?”
He nodded slowly. She held out her hand. His fingers threaded through hers cautiously. A perfect fit.
A shy, half-smile slid along his lips as they sank into the leather seats of the car together. Marinette let out a languid sigh. Finally, she was off her feet.
She met Adrien’s gaze from across the seat, a flutter in her stomach as he squeezed her hand.
Thank you, Emilie Agreste.
