To my (remaining two) followers, I’m alive. I’ve decided to turn one of my university class assignment blogs into a new art blog where I’ll post some of my design and art stuff. If y’all could check out the url exforest, that’d be swell. I haven’t posted anything there yet, just the remains of an assignment, but here’s hoping I’ll have time to once uni is finished for the semester.
Happy holidays @laegolass , I’m your secret santa!! ovo @secretsantawatch

Fareeha felt her eye twitch.
Another customer had walked up to complain about a drink she didn't make, curse her for no reason, and storm out the cafe when she offered a new drink free of charge.
She understood the necessity of undercover work, but good God it was torture sometimes. At least Jesse was suffering with her. Or, rather, 'Jonathan', as his name tag read. She flicked her own tag, reading 'Felicity' in taunting blocky letters. This was the first and last time she let Winston choose a fake name for her.
"Cheer up, Felicity." Jesse called out from behind her, putting extra emphasis on the name she regretted telling him she hated.
Fareeha turned to scowl at him as he carried in a box, dropping it on the counter with a thud. A big 'fragile' sticker was slapped on the side.
"Dunno what's in it. Supplies for us, maybe."
"Then why did you bring it out here Jes- Jonathan."
"Had to stop by to see my favourite girl." Jesse grinned, ruffling her hair. Fareeha barely suppressed a laugh, batting his hand away as he returned to his station to clean up his earlier messes.
Jesse did lift her mood a little, but she still had to be stuck at the counter for the rest of the day. No one else suitable could join her and Jesse undercover to try and root out a secret Talon base that was supposedly in the area, it was only them with Hanzo, Tracer, and Lucio offering as nearby back up in case they were caught.
It sounded more exciting then it was.
It hurt to stand all her feet all day. The makeup covering her tattoo itched. Dealing with angry customers was more annoying than fighting omnics. Not to mention her fake name. All Jesse had to complain about was the shirt and glove covering his prosthetic, and not being able to wear his hat. At least they didn't keep the cafe open all day.
Fareeha flicked Jesse's arm as he settled next to her, leaning on the box.
"Hey Felicity, look over there."
She tensed up at his words, quickly scanning the room to determine whether anything was wrong. He nodded to a young couple tucked away in the corner, hands linked together on the table as they happily discussed something.
"What about them?" Fareeha asked, raising an eyebrow. They didn't look suspicious enough to be Talon agents, but anything was possible.
Jesse rested his head on his hand, smiling at them. "Soulmates. Ain't it nice seeing the young ones still holdin' onto those old beliefs?"
She didn't know how he knew that. Just a feeling, he'd probably say.
Fareeha leant onto the counter. She guessed it was. Soulmates were never something she worried about. Not anymore, at least. When she was a child, she loved the idea more than almost anything. She remembered Jesse coming home from a mission in Japan once, and excitedly telling her about discovering his soulmate. Her interest in them only petered out as she aged, until it was forgotten. Seeing the world in grey was normal at this point.
"I can hear you thinkin', darlin'."
"Thinking about how you would get fired for not working if this was a real cafe."
"Ouch." He laughed, stepping back and wandering off into the back room. Fareeha almost called him back, before she noticed a woman step up to the counter from the corner of her eye.
"Good morning." She said brightly.
Fareeha put on her best customer service smile. "Morning. What can I get for you?"
As the woman rang off her order, Fareeha called Jesse in from where he was going to take a nap in the back due to the 'boring mission' so he could do his job. No one else was in line, so the woman stayed where she was, only moving a bit to the side out of politeness. Fareeha tapped her finger on the counter while Jesse hummed and made the drink, taking care to not spill it.
Fareeha took the time to observe the woman. She was skeptical of anyone who came into the cafe, but she didn't look like any undercover Talon agent. Then again, looks could be deceiving. This woman was pretty and unassuming, but that had never stopped Talon before.
Jesse poked Fareeha in the side when he was done, narrowly sidestepping a smack to the head as she took the drink. "Sorry about that." She smiled sheepishly, but the woman looked amused. "Here you are, enjoy."
"Thank you."
Her fingers hit Fareeha's when she reached for her drink, and the world turned white, as if a light was being shone directly into her eyes. Fareeha quickly blinked away the white, already expecting the worst in a surprise attack. The woman in front of her must've been experiencing the same flash, if the colour in her cheeks was any jud- Wait, colour?
Fareeha's jaw dropped, and she felt her face heat up. She barely registered the fond smile on Jesse's face as he returned to the spot next to her, leaning on the box again. The only thing she cared about at that moment was all the colours that were slowly fading in to view. The woman - her soulmate - was staring straight at her, her other hand clinging to the strap of her handbag.
This was too much. Fareeha wasn't prepared to experience anything like this, her stomach was doing flips out of nerves and excitement. All the new colours were so overwhelming.
And then there was her apparent soulmate. Her bright blue eyes were a stark contrast to the red filling her cheeks, her blonde - blonde was yellow, right? - hair framing her round face.
It should've been awkward, how they they had been standing and staring at each other, Fareeha still holding the drink while her soulmate rested a hand on top of hers. Colour soon flooded the rest of Fareeha's vision, but her gaze was set on only one thing.
Her soulmate soon smiled, tightening her grip on Fareeha's hand. "I... I'm Angela." She said quietly. Her grin was infectious - Fareeha couldn't help but smile in return.
I just found your illegal magic AU and it is probably one of the best things I have ever read. Though I am a little confused as to why Ryan was trapped by the devils trap in the beginning if he's not possessed? Is it because he's technically a malevolent being? sorry if it was explained and I missed it :)
DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!
In an earlier ask I mentioned that there were two things I was waiting for people to notice, and this is the other one!
First off, thank you so much for the compliment! I don’t know if it’s really one of the best things you’ve read, but it means a lot! (i’m not blushing, you’re blushing)
As for the devil trap; yes it is because he is a malevolent non-human being. The traps are like a catch-all solution, and pretty powerful for how simple they are. They are probably some of the earliest magic that still is actively used to this day. Humans wanted to trap anything and everything that would do them harm, and most of the uses of a devil trap were lost over the years as demons took center stage as enemy number one.
But the traps are magic, old magic, but still magic. So a Smiling Stranger in control of their negation power wouldn’t be bothered much by a trap. Breaking such powerful magic might tire them a bit, but that’s about it.
Unfortunately, Ryan has zero clue he even has powers, never mind trying to control them. So a devil trap works pretty great on him.
Along those lines, it’s the same reason why exorcisms hurt him. The rituals are all “hey bad and mean thing, go away” and since he’s not spectral he can’t just “poof” and disappear. Him leaving would have to be him walking away, and when trapped, he can’t exactly do that, so the exorcism starts hurting him in an effort to make him go away.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY REMI!!!!!!! I hope you have a super good day and that you get spoiled heaps :D (sorry if this is late/early getting to you, I've completely given up on learning timezones)
Thank you so much!!! I had a really good day, I hung out with my family, had pizza and played video games ^^ ily! <3
wewwww go hard or go home that’s what I’m talking about
7. Tattoos?
I already answered but no even though I’d really like to get a few done
14. First car
haha, I can’t even drive yet
21. When was the last time you told someone you loved them?
today (looking at you beb because I know you’ll be reading this sooner or later)
28. What do you want to achieve in the next year
I want to be more on top of things academically. I did okay for my first year of college but I really slipped up the last couple of months so I need to find the motivation to do better. I also want to be more solid in what I want to do as a career, like knowing that I’m definitely taking the right course of action to achieve it
35. Have you seen anyone die
I’ve seen people before and after death but (thankfully) not in between
42. Why did you choose your career path
lol, speaking of. I want to be an editor for a publishing company (not sure what kind yet) because even though I’m a decent writer, writing is such a pain in the ass for me and frankly I like (aka LOVE) reading a lot more. I can see myself helping writers bring their creation to life rather than creating something myself.
49. Have you ever tried to take away your problems instead of deal with them
more like ignore them and hope they disappear on their own. yeah, it didn’t work out that well
56. What do you hate about ____
um, I think you were supposed to fill in the blank so go for round 2 if you want to I guess?
Why does setting up a new theme always seem to take hours?
Despite the time it took, I like the look of this new theme much, much more... (plus theres a sweet music player you should totally go and check out my awesome taste in music)
WELL THEN. (I was not expecting this tbh so thank you very much)
J. Could you live without having sex ever (again) in exchange for eternal youth?
I could, but I don't want to because 1. I'm a virgin and would very much like to do the do 2. as attractive as immortality is I would definitely not be able to handle it in the long run
C. Have you ever looked down on someone because you thought your religious views were superior?
short answer, yes. long answer, I was very ignorant of other religions while growing up but now I try to be respectful
G. Would you rather burn or freeze to death?
ugh, freeze. there's so much pain involved with burning but if I freeze everything will just go numb and I'll pass out and die end of story
