Howlers were somewhat rare for Calleo, he'd only ever received them from an ex here or there, from @braxfordthebeater as a joke (conversely, he'd sent them to Braxford in the same spirit) at 3am, and he overheard one that his Mum had sent to @absintheabsence  a couple of years back.

In the split second before it opened itself and started shouting, Calleo had enough time for a flash of confusion as he recognised the handwriting on it as Lagraff's.

Nearly fifteen minute Howler is entirely, spoken and written, in Gobbledegook although only about half of it is comprised of shouting.

The other half sounded perfectly conversational, just loud.

The transition between the language being shouted and being spoken wasn't entirely unfamiliar to Calleo, he'd certainly heard Goblins (Lagraff specifically) raise their voices before, but he'd never had one send him a Howler. He imagined, somehow, that Lagraff stood on a chair to compose it being that Calleo wasn't in the room with him to be pulled down to eye level instead. It was, he thought, a good thing Lagraff wasn't in the room to see his reaction as the image of his old friend standing on a chair to yell at him so he didn't have to crane his neck back to look at him was terribly amusing even if Calleo knew perfectly well he'd have been pulled down to the Goblin's eye level.

The end of the letter only confirmed that which, among other aspects of the howler/letter itself, his friend-accountant-business partner wasn't nearly as cross with him as the general idea of a Howler might have otherwise indicated.

He'd caught the various looks from @absintheabsence  while having to listen to someone else speak it, and then listen to Calleo turn right around and speak it like it was second nature (not to mention have his quill show no signs of difficulty in transcribing it) and only shrugged in a manner that almost spoke, "That's just how the language sounds."
