I now have three alts in the level 51-53 range, sitting around Bastion waiting for me to feel like playing them again. One is the death knight that I shelved in order to level my other death knight. One is AU!Arthas. And as of last night, one is my elemental shaman, Laharia (in a brand-spanking-new transmog out of Firelands, no less!)
I was inspired to level her a bit after doing Torghast with a guildie’s alt. Apparently resto shaman are ridiculously OP in there, and with the right anima powers to buff healing rain they can solo the place without breaking a sweat. I don’t play resto but if I get Laharia leveled and geared enough it might be fun to try, assuming I can do so before Blizzard nerfs it.
Also, having Ghost Wolf made the Maw intro sequence so much better.
Anyway, I was looking ahead to see what Covenant I should pick for her, and apparently Necrolord is the most popular for elemental shaman. This makes absolutely no sense from a lore/RP perspective, but apparently it performs the best. The thing is, the DK on the back burner was going to be the alt I played through Necrolord content with, but now that I’m loving my Venthyr DK so much I probably won’t do much with her. And if I get the pally to max level he’s obviously going to be Kyrian. With my main/mage as Night Fae, that leaves Necrolord.
Character-wise, Laharia is a young black dragon from Outland who’s a sort of Earth Warder assistant-in-training, so there really isn’t a Covenant that matches her story. So I might as well go Necrolord with her, I guess. It’ll be weird to call upon the elements while running around on what appears to be the corpse of a truly gigantic monster, but hey, game mechanics. :P
