Lalbaugcha Raja, the iconic Ganesh idol who has it's own Twitter account is shining bright this year with pandal decor based on the "Chandrayaan 2" theme. People from all parts of the world are visiting the pandal to see the magnificent setup consists of galaxies, astronauts, spacecrafts and lots more. Also known as "Navsacha Ganpati" in Marathi means the one who fulfill wishes, Lalbaugcha Raja welcomes 1.5 million visitors every year during the festival. It is believed that in 1932, the marketplace in the area Peru Chawal shut down, post which, fishermen and traders prayed to Lord Ganpati to bless them with a permanent marketplace. Soon with consistent efforts of locals and govt. bodies, Rajabai Tayyabali, the landlord agreed to give them a plot to construct the market. That's when Lalbaugh market came into existence.
