Happy Saturday! Happy #caturday! Kalo S/K! It wasn't a very happy day for #lilythecat as I bundled her into her cat carrier & took her to visit the vet at Vet City in Glyfada. Now before animal-lovers start berating me for using Pet City, let me state that I am totally against puppy farms & keeping pets in cages to sell them at exorbitant prices to the public - it is extremely cruel to the animals concerned & shouldn't be allowed. BUT there is an excellent vet clinic on the 1st floor that is walk-in & doesn't require appointments. As I don't drive & taxis often don't allow pets (even in carriers) in their vehicles, I have to find solutions for when my pets are sick. I never know if I can catch Lily, so appointments are difficult & this place I can walk to if necessary. Chryssa, the vet who examined Lily today was incredibly thorough & gentle. She diagnosed an allergy, gave Lily 2 injections, cleaned her ears & gave me a prescription for more meds. The cost was €20, which is cheap for vet's fees. It used to take 2 of us to administer meds to Lily & now I have to do it alone. I was quite proud of myself at how I got a taxi to take me there: got in the cab, smiled, & turned on the charm & asked the driver to take me there. After grumbling a bit, he complied. I wasn't so lucky on the way back. Lily behaved herself perfectly - the vet couldn't believe the problems I have with her. I walked back home, which was good, as a new pharmacy has recently opened nearby & they had all the meds I needed & I even found a thumb protector there which makes my sore thumb less painful. Back home now & given Lily some treats & she seems to have forgiven me. This cat is driving me insane - yes, even crazier than I usually am. She goes out of her way to irritate me. I came back from lunch with a friend to find another dead mouse in the kitchen - this is the 5th in as many days. Then to crown it Lily has decided that she no longer eats dry food & yowls for the tinned variety. Now - this is what took the biscuit: I ignored the noise she was making & didn't comply with her demands, so she popped out through the cat flap & within minutes had come back with another dead mouse which she laid at my feet. This is what really got me though - she looked up at me & smirked before starting up her noise again. Not only has she turned my favourite cat into a stray, but she takes pleasure in upsetting me. To finish off the afternoon, she dug up the herb patch I'd just planted.
