The dragons dance and men are like dust under their feet, all our fine thoughts and endeavors are as nothing.

for my lovely @cigarette-room | Daemon Aemond Targaryen
“Everything with Daemon is basically connected to his brother,” Smith says. “I think his grief over [losing] his brother unfolded him, really.” The scenes between Daemon and Viserys revisit the traumatic events of the recent past. In the first, Viserys disinherits his brother and banishes him from the kingdom, just as he did in the series’ premiere. But unlike in the original sequence, the hallucinatory encounter allows Daemon to see the toll the confrontation took on Viserys. He watches the king, a man already grieving the death of his wife and newborn son, undergo an emotional breakdown. “Daemon was only seeing it as a thing that was done to him,” says Hess. “He wasn’t really taking in how crushed Viserys was and how hard it was for him. It broke his heart that all this stuff had happened.”
