Magic Ask: Hatred as a source of Energy.
lammeth said:I have seen a lot of your posts with emotions as the source of energy... Do you have a post like that about Hate? Or how would that work?
I don’t have a post about Hatred as a source of energy, but I figured why not make one since it was asked for?
Hatred is a tricky source of energy and i would generally not suggest its use, but i won’t pretend like it doesn’t have its uses. I’m not partial on using it, because of the tendency to make a person become tunnel-visioned, but if that’s what you’re looking for then, it’s a good thing.
For some hatred is the burning flame that destroys all in it’s path. To others its the cold void that is meant only to swallow the intended target. I’m a bit on the cold void side. My hatred is cold. if someone’s gotten me to the point of hatred my emotions are swallowed up and there’s nothing left. It’s just the desire to either destroy them or remove them from my life. It doesn’t exactly mean that i have to kill them. Sometimes it means actively avoiding them, other times it means actively blocking them from any place that I frequent and other times it meant the complete destruction of them and anyone that would seek to defend them.
i’d say spells fueled by hatred aren’t ones to use lightly. They’d specialize in single target or single groups (depending on the situation), but i’d say that they are a one and done kind of spell. Hatred tend to make a person pour everything they have, or at the very least more energy than necessary to eliminate a target or targets. If you plan to use this kind of magic i’d say be ready for the blow back of using it.
I’d also say hatred is dangerous to use because of the long term problems it can cause. If someone holds onto their hatred because it’s all they have, what happens when the target of all their hatred is gone? does it just go away or will the person just move the hatred onto someone/something else? A single person’s faults might be placed onto an entire culture/religion/group. It is important to be strong willed when it comes to darkness magic. To not allow that kind of thing to happen.
I hope this answered your question. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.
