I got you.#Not only did he have to go through WWX saying 'He's just my Good Friend' to JC.#Now WWX is reinforcing the same words without there being any audience around.#This is not 'WWX doesn't realize his own feelings.'#This is 'WWX wants to protect the person who he *assumes* LWJ is.'#In his mind there is only the version of LWJ who would be uncomfortable with being 'seen with him'.#And so as they become genuinely closer throughout this journey - he's rather afraid of crossing any perceived boundaries.#And that is an ongoing issue for WWX: He decides how other people feel about him and sticks to that perception.#He assumes that romance and desire are things that would make LWJ uncomfortable or disgusted!#So he tries to reassure him. But he does not try to understand him.#Nearly every scene they have together that is romantically coded is full of WWX trying to do damage control - for LWJ's sake.#It's an issue with not allowing someone to grow and change from how you first made your impression of them.#We're all a little guilty of this. But if you can catch yourself...maybe don't put people into boxes.#Give them air and enrichment! Let them surprise you and change alongside you.#Pride is WWX's greatest flaw. It bleeds into how but he assumes he knows the world - himself -and others.#And I love that he is so flawed! He causes his own torments just as much as he inflicts them on to others.#We need the character to have room for growth and baby - we just transplanted this freak into a new pot.
