anyway so lancelynn shows up in season 4 and Weiss is like “leave me alone!” and lancelynn is like “: | your father ordered me to ensure your safety” and weiss is like “I dont NEED a bodyguard” but Lancelynn ain’t havin’ it 

(and probably Sr. Schnee is holding their younger siblings as leverage but that’s a plot point for another episode) 

Weiss is understandably wary of this stoic buff stranger following her around everywhere and doesn’t relax until Lancelynn proves somehow that they really do like Weiss and this isn’t just because of her father! (IDK how. use your imagination) (Knowing Weiss, it isn’t until Lancelynn gets short-tempered with her) (she’s so used to fake people kissing her ass)

Weiss struggles to make friends because of who she is as a person lol but Lancelynn is just super nice and reliable and refuses to leave. Also, Weiss probably refers to them by their last name for a long time and it’s a very special moment when she starts calling them Lancelynn. 

And in a very Weiss fashion, she starts feeling possessive/protective of Lancelynn and despite their greatest efforts, she keeps throwing herself into more danger to protect them!

Lancelynn: I can’t let you do this!! Weiss: DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, SCHAFER!!!

How does Lancelynn fit into canon rwby verse though hmmmm... Maybe they're a family friend? Weiss is just like "[target acquired] you're attractive and talented, stand next to me."
