There was a point in time where Xie Lian would come home to his good friend San Lang who he totally isn't in love with beating up his deranged brat cousin, while that cousin's accidentally acquired child is begging for mercy on his father's behalf before being pacified by Xiao-Hua's sheer aura, and not to forget the lowk sus, sad, ghost child who's actually fucking old being inconspicuous in the corner, all to which Xie Lian would simply respond by going into the kitchen to create a substance that not even the devil in the depths of hell would approve of. Ah, domestic bliss.

Do you ever think about how, for Lang Ying, vol. 2/season 2 of tgcf is an actual fucking horror story?

Like, from Xie Lian’s perspective, he’s just casually helping out some ghost kid with a mysterious connection to the fall of his kingdom while in the middle of being pampered by his boyfriend, but for Lang Ying?? This kid just got picked up by the two people who ruined his fucking life, seemingly recognized them immediately, and then spent the entire time freaking the fuck out as he’s essentially psychologically tormented by having to watch the people who’ve haunted his nightmares for centuries flirt and make bedroom eyes at each other.

This is more apparent in the donghua, where Lang Ying about has a heart attack every time Xie Lian comes near him, but holy shit is Xie Lian oblivious.

Meanwhile, Hua Cheng has definitely picked up on something about this kid’s identity, since we see him interrogating Lang Ying later on. Maybe it’s the Bai Wuxiang energy coming from him, or maybe he recognizes the kid as that one crown prince who went missing after that time he and Dianxia dabbled in terrorism, but he knows Something. I’m insanely curious as to what went on in that interrogation, mainly because I think it would be absolutely hilarious if those two were having some sort of tense confrontation centuries in the making, where Lang Ying comes face-to-face with one of the people who killed his uncle, got him infected with Human-Face Disease, and burned his home to the ground, and all the while Xie Lian is dicking around in the basement with Wind Master and getting chased by worms.
