Thoughts on Eui-Joon using "Ahjussi"?

So, I noticed some people complaining about Eui-Joon still calling Gunwoo "Ahjussi" despite being married at the end of the manhwa. They argue that Eui-Joon should use his husband's real name instead of the title "Ahjussi". Personally, I know very little when it comes to Korean Honorifics, so it doesn't bother me, but should it? Is it weird that Eui-Joon doesn't use Gunwoo's real name from a Korean perspective? I'd love to hear your thoughts, but please keep it light-hearted and respectful.

Hi! I want to start independently learning a new language (alongside Castilian Spanish and German - which I study for my degree) but every day I change my mind on which one. So, I’ve decided to leave it up to the good people of tumblr.com. Find my propaganda for each language below the poll. Alternatively, recommend me a completely different language in the notes and make my decision even harder.

Which language should I learn?

Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig)

Greek (Ελληνικά)

Hawaiian (Ōlelo Hawai’i)

Propaganda for Scottish Gaelic:

♡ I have Scottish ancestry and family and friends who live in Scotland (some in Gàidhlig-speaking areas).

♡ I hope to study my master’s degree in Scotland.

♡ I have always wanted to learn a Celtic language and understand more about what came before English colonisation.

♡ The grammar and orthography look complex and fun.

♡ I care deeply about language conservation and this language is listed as “definitely endangered” by UNESCO.

Propaganda for Greek:

♡ I studied Classics for two years in college and believe it’s very important to have a working understanding of the modern culture when learning about a country’s history - as a matter of respect.

♡ I go Greece semi-regularly (maybe every four years or so) and it’s my favourite country to visit.

♡ I already know some of the basics.

♡ It’s an opportunity to learn a new writing system - and it doesn’t seem too difficult when compared with other writing systems like Cyrillic or Kanji.

♡ There are definitely the most resources available for this out of the three.

Propaganda for Hawaiian:

♡ (Note: I cannot find anything which lists the Hawaiian language as a closed practice but if it is, please let me know!)

♡ This is a “critically endangered” language - even more vulnerable than Scottish Gaelic.

♡ I’m very intrigued by its use of apostrophes and accents.

♡ I watched a documentary during a linguistics class on Hawaiian Pidgin and found myself captivated by the words which originated in Hawaiian.

♡ I would love to visit Hawai’i one day and want to show more respect to the people and their culture than many tourists seem to do.

♡ I have already found several resources to start my hypothetical Hawaiian learning journey (beyond Duolingo - which I refuse to use until it starts recognising the value of human translators).

☆ Note: this is my “fun” language, I do not care about “practicality” or number of speakers. I believe that all languages are incredible and should be learned. ☆

As much as Dylan swearing is such a mood, I agree with you trashy.

The kitchen scene was so hard for me to watch having been through something similar and fights that played out exactly like that. My ex used to get even more angry when I cussed even though he would drop one every other second when we were fighting. It’s a very interesting topic.

But yeah, it was hard to watch that kind of argument play out. I'm sorry you had to deal with that and I agree that it's interesting.

Language is interesting to me to start with. I call the English language my playground and I actually think swearing is a super interesting aspect of language. I love a good well-timed cuss, but I do know that when I curse it garners more attention than when my husband says the same thing.

Does anyone know a good resource for finding French words and phrases? I know there is SpanishDict for Spanish, but I was curious if there was something like that for the French language?

I think one thing about the "can you call someone an idiot/stupid/dumb?" question is that as it is now it's a necessary complaint, but also ableist.

There really just needs to be a word for

person who acts knowledgeable about something while not actually knowing much about it

person of power who promotes such

there might be more situations, but you get it. it's not about knowing, it's about misleading, misinforming or disinforming people.

you could say, "this is disinformation" or "this is misinformation", and "this person constantly spreads misinformation/disinformation".

But yeah, it's a bit longer? idk. maybe it's not a big problem.

other use cases of "dumb/stupid" also includes "bad idea" (which is pretty concise), "impulsive", "person I disagree with", "mortal enemy", "opposition", "short-sighted" (about choices), "close-minded".

Lit in slang

So the word lit is one of two past tense versions for light, lit, or lighted. The word lit is an older(?) slang word meaning cool. (Unrelated but: Lit can also be a shortening for literature)Now if you didn't know this the usage of this word would be so weird and out of place. I know I would probably spend days fixated on this, trying to figure it out.

Now why did this become slang? I have no idea. I am not knowledgeable about the development of the English language, despite it being my first language.

It is still a cool concept, for the word's usage in these ways does not seem to be related, and was probably for a completely unrelated reason beyond it's meaning as a past tense of to light. My brain went down a rabbit hole of thought, and pit could be correlated, along the lines of something being popular, and therefore "lit up" or something, but that is only speculation of me in my spare time. (read: sleep deprived) This is therefore probably incorrect, so please do not quote me on this, as I am not an expert. If someone knowledgeable on the subject would like to share something, please do.
