I don’t use alt text for my art.

Not that I think alt text is a bad functionality. Tools of accessibility are a really good thing that help a lot of people. I regularly think I should use them more

But when I draw, it's usually because words won’t work for what I want to say. Be it because english is hard or because language is not optimal for something specific, the result is the same : if something is visual, I can't do a written version. I could describe, analyze, overthink, tell exactly the effect I wanted, yet that effect would be lost. The choice of medium is an integral part of any piece of art : different medias can do different things, they are not swappable without losing meaning or character or their reason to be.

I draw fic fanarts because I'm not good with commenting emotion in another language. I create comics because drawing and writing separated are not enough. I'm writing this too long post (and struggling) because words are the only way to express the idea clearly.

I won’t be able to draw that post. I'm incapable of transcribing to text the sensations of different brushes or textures. Comic strips are incomprehensible without words and emotionally stunted without art.

It's a bit hypocritical maybe. Sometimes I feel like it's the lazy way. Excuses to not put the effort that could help someone else.

Just... some things are too different. I don't know how to express them differently

Words I mispronounce

Here are some words I've mispronounced for years before someone corrected me: 1) Crayons: correctly pronounced as "CRAY-onz". I called them "crans".

2) Scissors: correctly pronounced as "SIZ-zers". I called them "ZIZ-zers".

3) Derogatory: correctly pronounced "der-ROG-gah-tor-ree". I pronounced it "dee-roh-GAY-tor-ree" ("dero" rhyming with "Nero" and "gatory" as in...something to do with gators; gator-related).

4) Isolative: correctly pronounced "ICE-soh-lah-tiv". I pronounced it "ai-SAW-lah-tiv".

5) Anion: correctly pronounced "ANN-ai-on". I pronounced it "ANN-nhun" (kind of like "onion" but with an "ANN" instead of "UN").

6) Cation: correctly pronounced "CAT-ai-on". I pronounced it "CAT-Shun" (like "caution" but with a "CAT" instead of a "CAW").

7) Reuptake: correctly pronounced "Re-UP-take". I pronounced it "ROOP-take".

8) Italian: correctly pronounced "ee-TAL-lee-un". I pronounced "it-tuh-LEE-an".
