Are you ready to start the challenge but you don't know what to do with all the space in your language notebook? Here are some tips that may help you:
First, you need to divide your notebook in the sections you will need. Mainly, I always have a cover, a color code page, the index, the grammar section and the vocab section. If you are into color palettes and themes, you may also want to have some options to place in each section.
Cover: goals and motivation
This section is all about what you will do, why are you going to do it, and where you expect to get at when the challenge ends. Put what really gets you going when you think about this language and its benefits :3
Generally, I like to stick to a color code when it comes to grammar. For example, I set a color for irregular verbs and then whenever I review any of them, seeing them in the I.V. color will remind me they are irregular. Same with prepositions, special cases, etc.
Content list or indexation
This part should be the most organized one. Since I will be making notes and stuff every day and pair it up with the challenge, I basically divided this one in these main sections: alphabet, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. I will write the task and the day next to the subtitles.
Since between Grammar and Vocabulary there will be a lot of subtitles that will correspond to my notes, I will be leaving the same space between these two to fill it later with each lesson :)
Alphabet and pronunciation
Since I'm super bad at pronouncing French and I often forget the special cases of pronunciation in the alphabet, I put this section here for reference :3
Remember the book I recommended you to get to learn grammar? Okay so this section will be based on that book. Mamy books start with the verb to be and then they guide you the way up to more complex topics. My advice is that you follow that order.
This is my favorite section. For this one, I will start from the end of my notebook all the way to the front until it clashes with the grammar section and there's no more space. I do this as to not stress out about leaving enough pages for any of these two sections and it gives me more freedom.
Also, I love themed vocab lists so I planned a layout I have yet to complete because time- but yes, if you learn better by association, I would recommend you make vocab lists based on themes with examples of your own creation next or below each new word you are learning :3
For the challenge itself, since many tasks are about writing, I will be placing them in the sections that correspond and just mention them in the content list afterward.
I will start tomorrow but you can join whenever. The important part is that you are having fun!
