What a beautiful illustration of the Tree of Languages!
Explaining the Romance languages very basically:
French: the evil gay cousin with a superiority complex.
Italian: the rich cousin who tries to make their wealth seem very secretive in spite of the fact they flaunt their wealth by any means possible at any family gathering.
Portuguese: the evil gay cousin of French, but not the rest of the family because that would be French.
Romanian: that one cousin who is oddly associated with Russian culture to "connect back with their roots". Meanwhile they're only 15 percent Russian.
Spanish (Castilian): The family disappointment who is spite of having every opportunity to be great, is a faliure.
Spanish (Latin): The favourite child of the family despite being the middle one.
