I hate this fandom. The only way i’m going to be able to keep up with this season and not just ditch it and go back to TAZ where things are nice and the fandom isn’t atrocious is if i Never See the Fandom Ever

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, this is EXCELLENT NEWS. I've only ever posted complete works as part of an incomplete series (rather than a 1/xx chapters within one story situation), so I just rate the post based on the content in the current story only. As a reader, I think I prefer when the rating reflects what's actually there but I can admit I've been happy when a person's posted the future-rating with a note explaining why, too.

I definitely tag with the highest rating it’ll earn throughout, with every pairing it’ll earn that rating for. I also tag with all the warnings (that I deem appropriate) that it’ll merit through the end, since I don’t want people getting 10 chapters in & then encountering something that’s a hard nope for them. (LOL but I still get complaints on that last score, soooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

if i know for a fact that the fic is going to earn a higher rating, i'll tag it with that (like i did w my west wing wip), if i'm not sure i'll tag it w the rating appropriate to what's posted (like w my babylon 5 wip). as a reader .... i can't remember the last time i looked at ratings except to complain that Certain Fandoms seem to think women are too innocent for sex so. [shrug]

thank you for these thoughts, friends!  particularly, hbbo, for the reminder to tag warnings in advance; i appreciate that.  i don’t generally write and almost never read works in progress myself, so while i think i might be annoyed to open a fic expecting something only to discover it’s not there yet, making sure people are aware of what’s to come is probably a good thing to do.

alternatively, something abt sisko and seska as two people who slowly lose any sense of species-identity (sisko as prophet-human-bajoran; seska as cardassian-bajoran-kazon) and sisko's choice to let all three consume him + seska's choice to consume in her own turn
