Hi Ais! Did ya miss me? I got a few questions, first off will there be a sequel? I finally finished 1/27 and im blown away! Second although he wasn't mentioned a lot I was extremely curious about Adam Blake, he was mentioned but I don't remember him being explained a lot. But I have to say all the characters are written so well! And obviously I'm gonna have to say I have a soft spot for Emilio haha he was a character I loved to read about. And lastly have you've guys written any other books?

Sequel: it’s the same as it was when we wrote 1/27, honestly. We don’t have any specific plans in place but we aren’t opposed to writing it, it’s just that we’re doing solo projects in the meantime. Of course, I’m about 20x slower than thatdudesantino (Santino) on my solo projects lol But he’s doing all sorts of fun stuff you should keep an eye out for if you aren’t already! www.santinohassell.com

Oh but we did write a rough plot for most of the sequel if we write it so we generally know what would happen if we write it. There’s one thing that I think would be a lot of fun to write if we do~

Adam: Oh! Have you read After Midnight by Santino Hassell? That’s allllll about Adam and Gordon. You should totally read that if you haven’t; it will fulfill all your Adam needs :) He wasn’t explained a lot in ICoS because he had his whole own book so he was more like a cameo in ICoS, if that makes sense.

Emilio– I heart him too, the little bastard lol

Other books: lol I just realized I half answered that question. Santino already wrote After Midnight which I suspect you’ll love if you already like ICoS and want to know more about Adam. Also, he has a completely unrelated m/m romance book coming out later this month called Sutphin Boulevard which is actually part of a series of m/m romance books he’s writing, based in NYC. As for me, I started a few books but then realized I could integrate some of them so I stalled writing to do more planning/plotting which I’m currently doing. But I am writing several fantasy books, which include LGBT themes. I have some other books I’ve been working on too, including two that are set in the past of ICoS, and eventually I have plans for a lesbian cop drama book.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I'm at the point where *Spoiler* Hsin has sex with Ann and I really just had to stop and say that you and Santino did such a realistic depiction of Hsins depression it was almost scary. haha I know it's random but his parts were so real and the expressions were so raw. Anyway I'll leave now haha

That’s so awesome! Thanks for the message on that! I’m glad it came across well :) thatdudesantino did a great job of writing Hsin’s narration, didn’t he? <3 Depression really sucks :( It can completely wipe you out... It makes me really happy to hear that you felt like it was represented well in the story, because things like understanding the emotional mindset or mood of the characters are really important in different places to understand why they react the way they do.

I always tried to be so good about spoilers but I have to admit, after so many years I keep accidentally giving spoilers on things without meaning to :( And it’s difficult to not have spoilers in the way some social media things are set up.

Happy reading! And remember-- if at any point you want to kill Santino or me while reading, trust me: it gets better. Both in quality but also even though bad things happen, good things do too. Hopefully that sounded more reassuring than ominous XD

Hi so sorry if this is a question with an obvious answer but I'm new to the story so I have no clue what everyone is talking about when they say Boyd lost an eye or Hsin cheated on Boyd. The only story I've read was Evenfall: Directors Cut volumes 1 & 2, so am I missing something? Also thanks a lot to you you and Santino for making such an amazing story I got hooked in the first chapter!

Oh no, I’m so sorry! You got so many accidental spoilers! I feel so bad :( 

Yeah there are 3 more books + an anthology after Evenfall Director’s Cut, which together comprises the full series called In the Company of Shadows. 

All of the books are long as hell (not joking, the entire series when we first finished was literally over 1.5 million words) so what we did over time was try to edit them. We’ve only edited Evenfall so far and in doing so we cut like 1/3 the length of it and split it into 2 volumes (which is what the “Director’s Cut” of that title means). The rest of the books are unedited to the same level, and some things changed a bit in the Evenfall DC edit. 

This may all sound confusing but basically, the main plot points of Evenfall are the same but some minor details changed in editing Evenfall, so when you read forward in the rest of the series you’ll probably notice a shift in the level of editing and you might occasionally notice a reference to something that sounds unfamiliar to you from earlier in the series. That’s just related to something edited out of Director’s Cut Evenfall but that was there in the original Evenfall, and since we haven’t edited the rest of the books they still reference original!Evenfall. It isn’t anything massive so you can easily continue into the rest of the series if you want, and just ignore anything that seems a little bit off. I think (hope) the quality of the writing improves over each book too, for the most part, so hopefully it won’t bug you too much.

Chronologically, the series goes like this:

Evenfall (most recently edited version is called Evenfall: Director’s Cut and split into 2 volumes)

Afterimage

Interludes

Fade

1/27 (post-Fade anthology)
